Does it make sense to have a 3rd vehicle?
My wife drives the 200 Cruiser as her daily. School run, you know. And I drive it when we go camping
My daily is the Kuga. I do about 100kms per day which could soon change to only 45kms per day
The FJ is parked and is only driven on weekends?

No
Actually a little bit further away. But I will be stationary at work and not drive as much as I currently do

When I got divorced, many years ago, I managed to keep 3 of the cars in the driveway. It was great to have a backup for all occasions. One of them was my business bakkie though. Then we got the 4x4, and a smaller run about for my new wife to replace the 3.0SGLi. Both of them financed, and I decided I needed to make the expenses a bit less by selling two of the paid off vehicles. Then the wife got bored and baught a SJ410 to have a his and hers 4x4. Lucky that one was done cash.
Would I do it again, hell NO, I like the paid off status of a vehicle, and if you purchased wisely right in the beginning, maintenance should be easy and cheap to do yourself. That said, I'm down to one vehicle (the 4x4), and a company bakkie, and do miss the luxury of a platkar now and then, especially for "fancier" occasions when the wife finds that first 700mm high step into the 4x4 a bit difficult with a long dress.

Depends on functionality of the different vehicles, Space, cash/Hp etc.
My setup is platkar, mommy wagon and toy.
Toy was a cash purchase.
I really like it because I can play without having to worry about damage and struggling with only one vehicle if it has to get repaired.
In my opinion it makes sense

Always nice to have a 3rd. One of the other vehicles goes for service, or something breaks, you at least have a backup. That much I agree with
But having a 3rd that’s gathering dust and depreciation doesn’t make sense.
I could use the cash for something else, but then again my surname is Nel. Karma is a bitch

Altyd handig, veral as iets in gaan vir diens/herstel.
My vrou het n platkar dc.
Ek het n sc bakkie.
En dan n spaar stasiewa/7 seater/ma se wa wat ons beide ry by geleentheid.
En dan n speelding of 2 wat nie tel as rygoed.

If anything goes it will be the Kuga. It makes sense to sell the one with the best fuel consumption
