VW’s 2nd attempt at a bakkie

#1

Post by XJ Junkie »

VW are at it again. It’s called the VW ‘Tarok’ which is a Slovenian word meaning ‘Scrotum’.

This is their poor copy of the Renault Oroch, just longer & with a more finicky way of extending the load-bed. Basically, you sacrifice the back seats to extend it, which should prove interesting under hard braking with a load.

Other unnecessary features include a 1 ton load capacity & a targa roof.

It’ll probably be launched with 4-Motion & a 2.0 Diesel with 110kw.

Details are sketchy on whether it’ll have an engine cover or not. Maybe the removable targa roof panel could serve this dual purpose.

Their target market is aimed squarely at cantankerous personality types who don’t know exactly what they want in the first place, yet perfectly happy to be argumentative about it. This market segment is currently occupied by UP! owners.

Price isn’t confirmed, but expect it to be under-spec’d & expensive. But the later can be addressed with big balloon payment options, making it basically free.

Looks pretty good .

It’s obviously aimed at the ‘throws a surfboard in the bak’ crowd rather than the ‘urban metrosexual farmer ‘ crowd that the Amarok is aimed at

Renault Oroch has a cunning solution to the surfboard carrying ability. It’s called a roof rack.

In realty the French have the freezing cold English Channel or the flat as a Portuguese fried fish mediteranean to choose from as a surfing destination. . The Germans gave the North Sea or the frozen wastes of Russia as a choice

Why are they even building bakkies?!?!

"Basically, you sacrifice the back seats to extend it, which should prove interesting under hard braking with a load."
In other words it's load area is like that of a SUV (Duster, Tuna, Grand Cherokee, etc.) but open like........ Oh yes, a Wrangler with the roof removed.

Junkie you worry me!

You are obsessed with scrotums and engine covers, in the words of the great Apocalypse; “ it amazes that you have not died a terrific death yet!”🤣

Out of the 126 meanings for the word Tarok, scrotum is not one of them, thus a confabulation of a duster infused mind, what is the meaning of duster by the way? It conjures images of ostrich feathers in my mind, but then again I’m biased as well!Image

It is refreshing to see a half tonner that has some style applied to it and that was not designed by letting mucus fall to the ground, rumour has it that this little cross over will introduce some interesting features to the half tonner segment! (As apposed to just rehashing some features that has been used for ages in the automotive industry)

Also comforting to know, some German engineering has been applied as apposed to French design which is solely based on flair! (Or total lack thereof🤣)

There, rant over, waiting for the dealership to open!

They probably looked at the Merc and thought they can make a more expensive bakkie with less specs
