How do you chase away loyal customers?

Easy. Stick a Ford badge on a vehicle

Now this makes my blood boil. I drove 3 Fords. All bought at the same dealer. I loved my Fords. Never had any issues, even with the now almost 6 year old Kuga.

I modified the crap out of my T6. Never a warranty issue. Never

But now. Ford decided, well within their right off course, that they will void the total warranty even for something as stupid as another grill. How stupid is this?

Anyway. Buddy of mine drives two Wildtracks and a Everest. So a loyal customer if ever there was one.

He goes to Ford wanting to trade both 4 year old Wildtracks for 2 new ones. They live for overlanding so extra batteries, suspensions etc, etc is a must.

Sir. If you so much as put another battery in your new vehicles, the warranty is null and void.

Guess what? He’s now buying 2 Hiluxes. What the hell?

Ford lost the plot and a few loyal customers

Again the result of Boardroom Thermometers making decisions without any thought of the ramifications for the customer. The only way to react to this is to vote with your feet and take your hard earned money to another manufacturer.

So he saw the light. Speak to him in a couple of months. He'll tell you how happy he is.

I think the Ford bosses are reacting to all the fugly stuff the people are bolting onto their Rangers.
They are trying desperately to save the Ranger, and Fords reputation...:)

Too late Hedgehog... too late.

The Raptorized Ranger has become the vehicle you buy when your boyfriend already has a star spangled Wrangler...

Let’s be fair.

If you built a pretty reasonable product and knobs keep adding plastic kak to it to make it look like a vogon ship, you’d also try and stop people .

Even Ferrari won a case to make tuners take the Ferrari badge off ‘tuned’ Ferrari’s ...

I get that. But what about the guys that actuall add valuable stuff to their bakkies? Don’t punish them. Punish the A- Holes that add plastic

I cannot see how FROD, or any manufacturer for that matter, will legally get away with refuting warranty claims for mods not related to the part that is claimed.

An aftermarket grille cannot influence the performance and longevity of a diff, for instance. It COULD influence airflow onto the radiator and cause cooling and related issues, but is no grounds for a blanket voiding of the warranty.

Each claim will have to be dealt with on its own merit.

True Oom Thys . It starts getting a real nightmare though ! Motor manufacturers (NOT protecting them ) already have their hands full with warranty claims !! My one BIL work for a well known Motor manufacturer (NO names  ) , he works in the warranty claims dep . They really have their hands full .

I personally have claimed a few times from Ford :!: They are in no rush to help you and try everything in the book to get out of it. In fact i am sending Car for the 4 th time very soon

Johannes, Ford has been a nightmare to deal with for as long as I am aware. In the 80's I had a year-long saga with an overheating 3.0l Cortina bakkie, where they blamed everything from my driving style to the aftermarket aircon (which they had fitted when the bakkie was bought). After blowing head gaskets for the 3rd time in its first year, they eventually replaced the engine and the issue was gone. In that 12 month period, the vehicle was out of commission for 3 months.

That said, I have had similar feet dragging with warranty claims from VW and the old Delta as well.

I only had good experiences with Ford. I had two warranty claims on my T6 and I never had any issues. Handled professionally and in double quick time as well.
Toyota currently is making my blood boil a bit, but that is a thread for another day

Is that why Toyota have so many dealerships around SA? Because 2 out of 3 are shit?
