So do you say; There was this one dune, just outa Walvis, no 18 of the 100 gazillion, the one slightly left of the adder trail, and about 59m east of the black klippie... Now that one was just freaking awesome steep short ramp up, and sharp down slope with a 100m long slipface, you only see what it is after cresting, then you bollie yourself, and just hold on....

sounds about right.
On a rating of 1 to 10 how do you rate this dune? where the rating refers to the length of the skid mark in your underpants.

Oom
That won’t work
I have driven Lamberts Bay, which I rate a 10/10 for fun.
I have driven AD many times which I rate 10/10 for fun
I have driven a few Nam dunes which I rate 10/10 for fun
Point is. I rate all dune driving 10/10 because I always have fun even though they are vastly different

Ok I will rate the first bunch.
Wateford. Very nice route with some real technical stuff. The famous Langduin were you will not be able to conquer with 98% off the stock 4x4`s available. Permitted you start from the used starting point. Right at the start of the trail is the Speelduin. This one usually silence the Grootbekke before the hit the trail. Few hundred meters into the trail is some real ego destroyers. They get skipped most of the times . We have not done them on any Whooopa. Have not witnessed any 4x4 being able to do one of them in the dry season. Not even Tommie Watkins monster 427 v8 Monster Patrol could make it up there.
Think Waterford is one of the best dune driving experiences in the country. It even scared some of the very big Jeep names in the country
Little Patrol Waterfod first time with a very happy driver.

Port Nolloth White Dunes. That is the Little Namib with a twist. Namib style dunes formed by white see sand. Two very tricky dunes where you need to go up the slipfaces. One of them very few 4x4`s can go straight up. You can manage that by doing a loop halfway up. This is the playground of the famous SuperHansie. Also some great dunes for dune drifting.

I took the Yank Ranger there on twice, 700km drive one way.

Played on the dunes near Boeogoeberg a couple of years ago. 5 FJ's. Bit far for a weekend, but worth it. My sons white FJ. Those FJ's are legend on the dunes.
