How sentimental are you about a vehicle?
After 6 and a half glorious years, my Ranger would drive out of my driveway one final time.
This vehicle made so many memories. We had great times with it.
I might shed a tear or two.
So. How sentimental are you?

The only vehicle that I have an attachment to is my Lotus 7 replica that I built from scratch. From plans to a running road registered car in about 18 months with most of the work done by myself and a few mates. I've won 2 regional championship's in Lotus Challenge and eared my provincial colours. The chassis number is a combination of my date of birth and the year I completed the build.

I’m not very sentimental at all, in fact if I had the means I would change cars every few months just to have the opportunity to see how each new car is to own and drive. I often drive along in traffic and think “that might be a good car to have” and I’m not talking about big fancy supercar types, mostly everyday cars from small hatchbacks to SUV’s etc.
Maybe I’m just restless....?

I was sentimental about my first car, which I bought brand new, and was my pride and joy. It got written off in an accident, after that I have never been sentimental about cars (passionate, but not sentimental).

RooiTjiep and I are attached at the hip and unless something really extremely bad happens in my life, I'll never get rid of him. We are both getting very long in the tooth and there are always niggling aches and pains, creaks and groans that need attention, but it just makes us grow closer.
Hopefully, I'll be able to retire the old boy from being a daily driver and promote him to a dedicated toy one day.

Fortunately, the red Jimny was attached to me around the hips, and the airbags worked, otherwise I might not be writing this. I'm still not sentimental about losing her though.ThysleRoux wrote: ↑Wed Aug 22, 2018 9:16 amRooiTjiep and I are attached at the hip and unless something really extremely bad happens in my life, I'll never get rid of him. Cars are like wimmin. Very lovely and adorable until they give you problems. Then the lovely and adorable goes away and one is willing, perhaps even keen, to part ways. Or something like that?

I only once felt like shedding tears about a vehicle and that was my Cortina bakkie. Owned it for 12 years. Many engine and suspension mods. It ate XR6`s , Skylines, TRD Corollas the firt GTI`s like a mealie. But then I bought my first SFA Hilux DC. Also sold my Honda and the Little Patrol.
4x4`ing since 1986.
I will rather strip the Yank Ranger and store it in parts before selling it.

I had a tear in my eye when the Ranger left my yard yesterday. I quickly got my smile back when the FJ entered

I generally buy to keep.
At 55 years old I have only sold the following:
VW Beetle
Corolla RWD 1.3
Nissan 1400 bakkie
Conquest RSi
Merc C220
Merc 280SL
Hilux Kz-TE
BMW 320d
I was happy to sell most of them, especially the BMW as I moved on to better things.
Emotionally I'd like to have hung onto the two Mercs, but it wasn't practical.
The ONLY vehicle I am sentimental about is my year 2000 KB280 DT LE - it has 422 000km & I'll never sell it.
That 'Old Isuzu' & I started The House Doctor & that KB & I (along with two De Walt power tools) are the only original 'members' of the company from the early years, over 18 years ago...
I really like Fearless as Fearless has taken me on many great adventures, but if I ever replace it, I'll (hopefully) move onto something with Cruiser in it's name & continue the journey...
Incidentally, the 8 vehicles above are the ones I've bought & sold, I currently own 6 - so I still have 40% of the motor vehicles I ever bought (& registered in my name).
This excludes 4 or 5 motorbikes...

It seems like you and Suzuki need some time apart. Together you are a nightmare
