Here is my Feedback on Winter Games 2025

Some Scene Setting:

I went to bed Wednesday night fit & healthy, but woke in the night not feeling well.
All day Thursday & Friday I was feeling a bit worse for wear.
Not helped by the fact that I had two very busy days.

Tammy & Tristan arrived @ 18:00 we had a braai & Tammy suggested I skip Winter Games as she felt I was too ill.

But there are two things that are VERY important to me:
1. Your Word - if you say you'll do it - Do IT!
2. Loyalty - If you are not loyal - you aren't worth sh!t

The Day:
Firstly, lets get the negatives out the way:
1. It was HOT (30^C) so much for WINTER Games.
2. It was dusty - so much of dust.
3. There was a fair bit of waiting.

Now for the positives:
We arrived & found the place PACKED!!!!
Probably 4 times the vehicles that were there last year.
The place had a vibe!

Last year there were 15 vehicles competing.
This year - 54!

We were put in group 3.

At around 08:30-ish Peet of Zondagh gave an address - it was very entertaining! He is very funny - for an IT guy!

There were 12 judges - so the 1st 12 vehicles grabbed their Judges & headed out.
About an hour or so later they started returning & the 2nd dozen left with their judges.

The 1st judge to return was a long haired guy called Dewald - I asked Megan if I could take Dewald.
She seemed surprised but said OK.

We were the 1st vehicle of the 3rd Dozen to head out.
Dewald was brilliant.

The 1st obstacle was a typical 4x4 obstacle where you drove between poles - I did it like a Boss!
Same with the 2nd one.
Dewald commented - "If you keep driving like that I'm going to get thirsty!"
From then on he was given beers & bribes at each obstacle.

Although I drove well - the Boere sport obstacles were a challenge.
Luckily Tristan was good at many of them & beers & Bribes on the others ensured we got full points!!!
We gave Dewald a bunch of cash - Traffic Cops would be jealous!

We finished around 14:00, but I left @ 15:30 to go home to catch the Bok game.

Conclusion:
From 4x4AG - Johannes14 was there. REM came in his nice Jeep, but left before competing as he couldn't wait so long.
Ant was obviously there, Dennis of Go4Lo was there.
But that was it from 4x4AG - frankly a pisspoor turnout...

But a great turnout by the 4x4 Fraternity - the event is growing rapidly.

I enjoyed it - despite feeling unwell!

We all have our owns goals, I am driving the next round of Maxxis this coming Saturday, busy preparing the Jimny. Driving two events so close to each other is just not economically viable.
2011 Toyota Prado 3.0 VX,
2013 Suzuki Jimny, Ratel (larger than life),
2023 Toyota Starlet xr auto,
2019 Invader Duo.

Bugger, I worked on the Jimny two weeks in row, the competition is intense, the cost of transport, accomodation , do it two week ends in a row and you will understand.

Ye I know the Accomodation is sometimes the killer in costs
Pity you can not tow your jimny trailer behind your Camper trailer

Time to look at a nice RV
