A Bit of Disclosure

#1

Post by iandvl »

Debugging some issues on the forum recently, I realise that I have been deathly quiet here. But anyways. Some disclosure in terms of it all.

This year has kicked off in a stupid insane fashion. It started wtih a weedeater that packed up. And then two fridges. Later on, our boundary wall fell over. At the height, and considering it is only a single row of bricks, insurance did not pay out, so I fixed. And then the television etc. I will not speak about work. Work seems to go more insane every single year. :/

At the same point in time, my daughter now stays with me in Pretoria and has been attending HS Die Wilgers since the beginning of the year. Despite having a very troubling school history, she has gone from being in the 0.1% average spectrum on her reports to passing all subjects last term with one distinction and an average of 67%.

So I've been busy and I've been focussing on personal things.

This year - despite all the set-backs - is going to be good. The lady friend and I knocked off a whirlwind trip to Zambia in March for her birthday, but we cheated - we flew in. I'll, however, post some pics at some point.

And I also acquired a Suzuki Jimny (fantastic little truck) for the school run each day and also so that my daughter has something better to learn to drive with. Pic follows.

Anyways, apologies for my silence. Regular programming (where I annoy everyone) will resume forthwith. :)

Pathetic - because of a few minor challenges, you avoid the Forum like a Vegan avoids heavy lifting?
I had:
Major work challenges resulting in financial issues.
My brother being very ill & eventually passing away.
The resultant fleet maintenance backlog which consumed almost every Saturday in the 1st 4 months of the year to clear.
A childish & frivolous 4x4-relared Court case & the resultant costs & time wastage.
Then I had to, despite my own challenges, support my brother's wife.

Then the rains came which completely flipped the work challenges.
So now we were so busy I struggled to cope - but at least the money started to come in... finally.
In fact, from Mid-February I dispensed with all leisure time & decided on an OMAD diet, purely to save time.

Then, unlike you, I still kept up with my 4x4Action Group responsibilities.

I also gained a new vehicle - I inherited back my 1994 Hilux 2.4D with 55kW of raw power.
But it needed a new Windscreen (thank you Erin) & a new battery & some overdue TLC.
luckily I didn't stoop so low as to buy a 1300 though. :D

I also managed a two week getaway - which was awesome & very much needed (Trip Report pending....)

Please lift your game, Ian ;) - but thank you for looking after the Forums IT side.

PS, at least, with the 1300cc 62kW Jimny you finally have a decent 4x4. So congratulations... I suppose...

Sorry to hear about your brother and your other setbacks.

Anyways, the Jimny is awesome. It is just so much classy, in everyway, than a Fortuner. And it is red. Not white. :)

A Jimny is cute, almost like a REAL 4x4.

And when I mean a REAL 4X4, I mean the one and only WRANGLER.
