if i look back at it, all started last week Monday morning on my way to work when i felt slight power loss which i dismissed as imagination.
stayed like that until Friday few Km before final destination when shushing noise started which i tough coming from pollen filter or cabin fan.
on open road i did not feel any difference in power but as soon we got off the tar power loss feeling was much greater , sshhh noise louder and black smoke visible.
thanks to duct tape and few cable ties problem was temporarily sorted.

yesterday i was looking for replacement.
independent spares suppliers all said:no stock,1-2 weeks lead time,R650-R750 range.
well known spares suppliers did not even bother but to just say NO ,next in a line please.
on advice to try my luck at GANGR and Best Drive (which are 2km from my work) i went there.
holy (what ever ) ,not only that they have what i need there is a wall 10m long and 2m high full of pipes of all sizes one can think of.
silicone booster pipe 51-57mm cost me R195.
i believe they sell at takealot as well as there was wall of branded boxes waiting for collection.

i would never expect for 90 degree pipe to crack like that on inner bend.
pipe is 5 years old but there is no hair crack lines any where no matter how i squish or bend it.

Friend of mine's Ford Ranger 2.2 developed the same illness.
But we could not find the "leak". It was fine as a daily but as soon as his van was hitched, limp mode activated. His wife was the ears however, and said she heard a hissing noise every time power was applied. Turbo pipe!

So one day I stood over this four pot and decided to start prodding the turbo outlet pipe. Wragieswaar just where the pipe joins the turbo, a hole.

We take the pipe off and start searching for a replacement.
Ford wants a Million Rand and light year delivery.
Local repair guys say because it is tapered and 90 deg bend in one, they use a uniform rubber bend and make a taper pipe that passes under the sump. R6000.

Silicone pipe suppliers can't help either.

So my friend out of desperation phones his mechie in George. This guy say to try this other guy in George. Bingo, yes he has, R450.

We scoot over there and snap it up. Now I start asking questions, but all I get out of him is that "it is imported from Australia".

We struck lucky! Went off home and fitted it. Bakkie it's old self again.
This is what this little number looks like:

in my case bakkie didn't go to limp mode and on highway power loss feeling was marginal.
once on dirt road (Vrede to Volksrus)which was washed off by recent rains i could feel power loss
trying to accelerate after slowing down to cross dongas.

I replaced all my high pressure turbo hoses with new reinforced silicon hoses. Got them from a turbo supply shop in Pretoria West. Also SILLY CHEAP compared to OEM stuff from Nissan.
