Australia and us will only get the little diesel motor - I agree the petrol would be a better option

I thinks its ugly & it'll be expensive...

Bad News for The LGBT Community!
Stellantis, the worlds most useless Motor Company & likely the 1st Legacy brand to fall to the Chinese has stepped up it's destruction of the Jeep Brand.

In SA, where Jeep sells a whopping 2 or 3 vehicles a month, Stellantis has decided to put a stop to this nonsense.
They have, for 2025:
1. Scrapped the Limited 2 Door Wranglers
2. Scrapped the V6 Penta Star motor.
3. Will only sell the 2.0 TurboPetrol which uses more fuel than the V6.
4. Whacked up prices by around R165000 - that's the cost of a Toyota Vitz.
The Wrangler is now around R1.1million.

The Good News is that the BAIC B40 which looks like a Wrangler & has a 2.0 TurboPetrol like the Wrangler is half the price.
BAIC also offers a Diesel option.
So you can choose a 110kW 350Nm diesel or a 160kW 320Nm Petrol.
In fact, for the price of the HomoMobile, you get get both...

I'll hang on to my 10 year old GC for a few years, then accept a beating when I try to flog it...or just park it next to my buggered Disco II. 😁

Read that the BYD Shark 6 bakkies are heading to RSA too? The first batch just landed here in Australia and they're already sold out the first shipment

I popped into the local dealer to check one out and have to say, they're looking pretty good. Not sure I'd be spending my own money on one, but at AUD $59,700 (R703,000) driveaway, they're definitely priced them to compete. Cheaper than most of the mid-range bakkies out there.

And I gotta give it to BYD, I think they've done quite good on the design on this one. If the Kia Tasman looked like this....

EV bakkies won't sell well here at this stage Redman...

But the Chinese are here in a big way.

Nearly 25% of brands available in SA are Chinese and the legacy guys like Stellantis and the German luxury brands are in retreat.

But EVs... Not yet...

EV's not yet, I agree... But I think this BYD Bakkie which is PHEV will tick a lot of boxes.

Yes the 1.5L turbo petrol engine in it is asthmatic on its own. But it does have a 100km EV only range. Add that with the charging from the petrol when needed and you have a economical bakkie that will tick the boxes for a lot of double cab buyers.

Not perfect in any means but they are getting closer with the products. And the design team seems to know what they are doing...

BYD is here in Mzanzi, they will be launching the Bakkie soon.
In December the Land Cruiser 79 outsold the GWM Poer.
The BYD Shark Bakkie will probably be around R1million.
Won't sell here...

Haval has launched the H7 SUV.
I like the looks.
If you are wondering what the difference is between the Haval H7 and the GWM Tank 300, think of it this way:
The Tank 300 is based on the P series pick up in much the same way the Fortuner is based on the Hilux.
All 4 of those are Body on Frame i.o.w they roll on a classic chassis.
The H7 is unibody, no chassis, meaning it's more of a Soft Roader like RAV4 or X-Trail.

Pics below...

But I do like the looks of the H7, Camaro front meets Mazda CX-60

I see the Chinese made a reliable Defender that isn't an ergonomic mess...

GWM Tank 300 may just be better than a Toyota Fortuner... if you really want to compare. H7 is for Karen.
EVs Market will Suffer for as long as there's still groups opposing the Nuclear Power Build.
