Day Trip close to JHB PTA

#1

Post by Rem »

I would be keen to organize a one day 4x4 day trip (maybe the first week in Feb), I've got pretty limited experience in venues and how many folk would be interested. I did something at Sable in Magalies which I can organize again if there is any interest. I was thinking a random Saturday, we could do the the trail and either arrange a catered lunch or do our own thing. They've got a track, and the trail up to a dam, I thought it was quite challenging when I first tried it but would probably be pretty easy for most of your guys..

I think total driving was about 3 hours, up and down, without a lunch/swim stop.

Here are two links to the place I'm suggesting. The hiking one has more pics of the route up to the dam..

Rem this is a great idea.
February would be good.
A place like De Wildt is perfect, although I've been there more times than I can remember.

Are you pitching it as a day aimed, primarily, at guys with slightly less experiance, with a few 'Ou Manne' for guidance?

If you need any help whatsoever, just shout.

Here are the guidelines...

There's a few places just up the Magalis Mountains, MAD Manny's favorite Hekpoort, In the Gorge, something like that, the drive is scenic on tarmac all the way to the off road trails.

De Wildt is very family friendly, decent infrastructure with pools, braais, camping etc, easy/maintained 4x4 trail (optional hard stuff)
