This thread is exactly what I was looking for.
I am starting to do a search for tires for my Jimny(I have a slightly modified gen3 jimny with enough power to turn 30's if I want to but that is not what I am after), my jimny we use mostly for touring . I know the Goodyear Wranglers adveture A/T's or ATSA's and General Grabber A/T3's are the best options for the jimny ..
There are only a few tire sizes that I consider, and in some of them the Patriot's came up and they are not badly priced and seems like they are a rough A/T almost M/T (Hybrid).
So Now I wonder.. Should I consider these Patriot's instead of the 2 brands I do have trust in.
I am thinking of going the Jimny gen4 standard tire size route wich is a very odd size of 195/80R15. and there is Only 1 A/T available in that size wich is Patriot's.
GG AT3's are available in all the other sizes like 205/75R15 ,215/75R15 ,215/80R15
GY Wrangler are available in 205/75R15 , 215/80R15
PATRIOT PATRIOT RUGGED TERRAIN+ are available in 195/80R15 ,215/75R15
Pricing accourding to Errol's tires website between all these sizes are between R50 - R200 at most diffrence per tire between all the sizes..
Which got me thinking.. I am looking for something taller than the 205/75 which I currently have. that gives me good fuel consumption and keeps the car nippy, and the 195/80 will do just that.. but seeing that the tires I do trust is not available in that size, I am looking for more feedback on the Patriots of people that has put them through their paces..
How do they wear?
Road Noise (as it is seemingly a more M/T than A/T).
Road handling, especially in wet conditions.
How do they preform on sand (dune driving like moz, or like in kgalagadi).
How do they preform on rocky surfaces.
Side wall protection.
Life Expectancy?
Availability of Patriot tires. (GY and GG are fairly easy to get almost anywhere in Southern Africa).

I like the part where a Jimny owner says "... but keeps the car nippy..."

I am also in the "shopping for replacement tyres" limbo state for my Jimny.
My Jimny's 215/75R15 Bridgestone MT D674 are approaching their pensionable state and they are no longer available on the market.
The search for a decent replacement is tiring (excuse the pun).
I would probably prefer a good AT or a bit of a Hybrid towards MT, or full MT depending on my mood on the day.
215/75R15 is a good height and still a reasonably fuel efficient size for the Jimny.
Could not find Maxxis RAZR AT in my size,
Maxxis AT980E 6PR 100/97Q is a heavy tyre and very expensive
Might have to take a harder look at the Patriot Rugged terrain+ 106/103Q LT COMMERCIAL

Funny you should mention that exact size… I fitted 215/75R15 Patriots on my camping trailer… 2500/tire and I really like the look of them.Flipside wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 6:44 pmI am also in the "shopping for replacement tyres" limbo state for my Jimny.

Maxxis do the AT980 Bravo in LT215/75R15. They sell plenty of that tyre to the JIMNY Community...

Quick Update:
33,000km on the tires and down to about 55% life. Have taken them off now and have gone with RoadCruza RA1100 LTs. Have them on the Duster and they grip well in the sand and handle gravel nicely.
Paid N$12600 for the set and got N$2000 for the Patriots.
Overall feedback on these, they were a lovely tire, a bit noisy and not as grippy in the wet as expected, but durable and even wearing. However at 4500/tire they’ve become expensive
