Seat Covers
The World Famous Fearless needs new front seat covers.
I had Escape Gear, in fact I have Escape Gear on my work bakkie.
Good stuff, but they do wear out.
Cover Worx was crap & they closed down.
Fearless currently has used Takla covers a friend gave me when he sold his Tuna, but they too are now finished.
So let's make a list & see which you guys recommend:
1, Melville & Moon - very good, VERY expensive, Pretentious.
2. Takla - good, but Pricey
3. CanTech by Takla
4. Beesdam - Look good, Grips has them. Recommended
5. Escape Gear - reasonably good.
6. RSA Canvas - I don't know them.
7. Caprivi
8. Stone Hill
9. Baobab
10. Badger Gear
11. Chaber Canvas
12. Kindo Covers
If there are other brands, post them & I'll add them to the list.
What do you guys recommend ?

I'm on my second set of Escape Gear, first set lasted about +- 14 years (250k km - in case some wise-ass says "ja but you have to actually sit on them"!
)
I had to replace them only because the driver's seat bolster rubbed through - there may be merit in my wife's belief that I'm a hardegat...

I had Melville and Moon on the Disco, very good and it wasn’t too expensive when I got them.
They don’t currently offer anything for the GWM (nobody really does) outside of Beeadam, but I’m not sure I like how they look.

I have had Escape Gear in quite a few vehicles. Not a bad product but around 6 to 7 years they need replacement. In all cases it is the drivers seat that worn through.
Got the first set of Beesdam as a present from the kids. Four years old and as good as new. The leather inserts on the high wear areas gives super protection against wear.
Bought a set for the 76 Cruiser last year as the Escape Gear had its best days.

I like my Escape Gear. Yes - they eventually wear through on the high usage areas.
The set I have now is 10 years old. I do need to replace the driver's bottom seat bit. This is obviously, the part that takes the most beating.
The rest of the covers (including the driver's back seat bit) are a little faded (sun, other elements - like forgetting my sun roof open once when a monsoon hit us on the Easter weekend, and also the occasional wash), but they are pretty much as good as new.
I will buy them again.

My Takla Cantechs are two years old and going strong. I went with these because, of the manufacturers that bothered to respond to my query, Takla was the only one who had a template for the Mahindra Scorpio. So I have not compared pricing. Happy with quality and would get them again in need.

Put pricing with the options
Then we can determine what you mean expensive or not

By adding pricing
It could assist in making a choice

I was one of the lucky ones who received my Cover Worx seat covers before they up and ducked. They work, but the quality isn't great, and the stitching on the armrest of the driver's seat started showing signs of wear very quickly. These were on my previous bus, and are currently stuffed in the bottom of a cupboard at home, as it was sold, and before I could pass them on to the buyer, sold again. Anyone want a set of seat covers for a VW Kombi?
Melville and Moon are nice, but at a price. If I had to buy again I'd look at Takla or Escape Gear.
The Beesdam covers may be tough and functional, but are hellova ugly, in my opinion. If they had a version without the leather inserts, or with the leather the same colour as the covers, I'd consider them.
Yes, form over function I'm afraid.
My bus has covers fitted by the original owner, which were made for him by the guys that do the seat cover for Bell equipment - very nice and hardwearing, as one would expect, but now made of unobtainium.
