I am probably one of those unsavory characters you might meet if you do a trail.
Oh Andrew, you give yourself too much credit, you are far from the unsavory guys he was referring to.
He is referring the Holic type twats. You are way removed from that.

Ive been to Moegatle where a bunch of twats from Rafiki 4x4 wheel spun & revved & created as much drama as possible to drive up one of those short steep exits from the river.
Each Tosser screeching with joy as he came flying out the top with the others 'Whoop whooping' in congratulations.
The massive dust cloud slowly dissipating after each drama filled rev rage...

I then idled up & said loudly to my co-driver - why did they make so much dust?

The Wankers scurried to their bakkies & drove off.

Saw similar knob head behaviour with a group at In The Gorge - alcohol, Gauteng Diffloack & 4x4 stickers, lots of right foot - fokol skill.

Not to mention, the genuine (can my mom be my MILF) ToyotaHolics who have brought shame upon our sport...

The other issue raised by either Sean Towlson or Andrew The Hedgehog is that a lot of people just don't have dedicated trail vehicles that they can bang over a trail on a weekend and if it breaks, fix it later. I used to see old Series Landies, Jeep CJs and TJs, SFA hiluxes, etc. Now if you see what pulls in at De Wildt 4x4, it looks like stuff off the showroom floor. Then the guys back out of doing heavy cross-axles and hill climbs because they are understandably wary of breaking something and not being covered under warranty.

It is simple really.

Money is tight. For everyone.

Blame lockdown and an ever-receding economy.

I totally concur about the beer... :D

Seriously, I am eventually clawing my way back from the financial wreck I was after my divorce. There have still been some setbacks but things are so much better than they were six months ago. I am hopeful we will be able to get out a lot more in the future. And groceries be damned... :D

Ja wel, soort van..........life gets in the way of my little projects.
Putting almost R1m into a brewpub over the last 2 years sort of buckled my plans.

But the plans are still tight, and the budget won't be high. Time is my enemy as well.

lawyer here can give better insight on matter.
if i understand correctly ....
26th amendment,for off road driving,points to
3rd rule of acquisition which clearly states:
"any person watching 3 videos related to 4x4 vehicle, trail, overland setup...etc
shall get one real trail visit credit".

thanks to this law and thanks to Bogaards and Steve Nuns many others can have real life experiences.
