Dirktatorship
I am amused. I met up with a friend of mine in Hazyview on the way back from my recent trip. He found my (modified) 4x4Com sticker amusing and took a photograph which somehow found it's way onto a "Member Sitings" thread on some other forum at some point in time...
Well, it seems as if modifying one's stickers to reflect one's current status is sort of frowned upon by the powers that be. Dirktatorship is alive and well elsewhere.
On a side note: I really like the fact that, despite being unable to post there, I still seem to be able to get the poor guy's knickers in a knot...

This Forum is 3 and a half years old.
I've banned ONE person (a Fruitcake from the Cape) who kept starting a Thread 'The VW Up! as a viable Platkar'.
I also deleted the Thread.
Other than that, we've only deleted about 3 or 4 posts in the past 3 or 4 years in a 'Censorship' way.
I find that treating members like adults encourages 'Self Moderation' and makes for a more pleasant Forum experiance...

I imagine that was Mr Slabbert. I remember his "viable platkar choice" threads from other forums...
It seems as if treating people like adults also assists in preventing the snowflake factor.

The problem is that he has built up a team of like-minded sycophants that hang on every word and action, and woe betide anybody that challenges the status quo or the prevalent mindset.
That forum has become a fascist echo chamber.

I reckon Dirk is going to read this thread one time or another, so here goes:
Hey Dirk, guess what, I slipped through the cracks again and have been a member for a few months on your forum.
Guess who am I... Hint: It was a ballsy move neh?

Back a few years, members got banned from 'that other forum' for real misconduct.
But it seems at some point the purge of unwanted actors increased.
I was never active enough on that side to understand why Apoc (20k+ posts) got banned for instance, or Manny, or Ian.
Was there consistency?
"One of the prevailing threads is "When do I engage 4x4", as well as "Gluten free vetkoek".
What a bunch."
Yes, there is that too, but I find it useful resource for overlanding research, ideas etc. In that respect I guess size matters.
