Dometic buys South African!

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

In the early 1920's two young Swedes (Blatzar Von Platen & Carl Munters) developed the first fridge.
This patent was bought up by Electrolux.
In the early 1960's Electrolux separated out it's leisure division & named it Dometic.
In 2001 Electrolux divested the leisure brands & Dometic became a stand-alone brand.

Dometic owns Waeco, Crusair, Marine air & Sealand. But is slowly rebranding all these as Dometic

Now Dometic has bought Frontrunner Outfitters. I expect the Front Runner name to disappear eventually.

And the genius decision to make all their Jerry cans and water tanks, bags etc. pitch black in a place like Southern Africa.

I guess it all looks cool but moer, it must get frikken hot.

Nice products though and nice and modular.

Frontrunner no longer makes Auxiliary fuel tanks, but is rather outsourcing.

I am guessing that most of their other products would go the same route.

Just curious to know why Dometic would want to buy them?

Front runner also recently discontinued rock sliders and the reason given was that they can’t be flat packed.

They export a lot of products abroad, so to keep profits up they only wanted to sell products that can be flat packed and then assembled thereby maximising the stock that can go into a container without shipping “air”.

In September 2021 Dometic bought another South African company.
CADAC is now part of the International Dometic group.

I assume the 'It's the Braai life' payoff line is not used overseas.

So that's FrontRunner & CADAC now swallowed into Dometic.
