The Joys of the new SA....

#1

Post by Shane »

So it's 03:10 am and I've just returned from our cattle camps as the security company called at 2am saying the cattle were out....

Now it still pretty wet as we had nearly 400mm of rain in december and it started raining at around 10 last night....

Guess about another 30mm.

Anyhow, fortunately my work vehicle is a (white!) Toyota 4x4 and I was able to quickly go and take a look. I recently put on new fongkong tyres (more about that in a different thread) and must admit I'm extremely happy so far! Conditions out there are pretty dodgy at the moment.

Getting back to the cattle - I suspect unwanted guests as one fence is flattened and there are tracks all over.

How I LOVE this country (he says with utmost sarcasm).

So I'm up again at 6 -it's my working weekend and we'll have to go looking for our animals.

Should total around 4 hrs of sleep for the night!

What I found nearly as disappointing as the 2am phone call from the security company was that Manny locked his latest thread for comments!

I mean, how do you do half a trip report and then leave your readers hanging???

Anyhow, I trust that the rest of you are getting a good night's rest. It's 03:20 and I must try to get some shuteye.

Will take pics tomorrow of the conditions so that you all can better appreciate the 4x4 capabilities of a (white!) Toyota .

You work on a PIG farm Shane, that's probably why you couldnt find the cattle....

Next thread is hopefully a “hunting” themed report of the culling of the intruders, please don’t spare any details of their demise.

Kurt ja. I'd rather not go there.

If I were to post photos of all the cattle that were "hock slashed" this december it would upset quite a few people!

Needless to say it would have been nice if we could just live in peace/safety..

But hey, lets not get negative and focus on the positive!
