We did a total of 2425km, using 261.47l of diesel. This gave me an avg consumption of 9.27 km/l at a fuel cost of R2.10/km.
Considering that we were 5 in the vehicle, heavily laden and did some 4x4ing - I'm pretty satisfied!

Something that I feel deserves a special mention:
Nieu Bethesda was a huge surprise! My wife couldn't source accomodation in Graaff Reinette and we ended up here quite accidently.
It has everything you would expect from a sh!tty one horse town - and more!
We had dinner at one of the restaurants and probably one of the best steaks ever!
In fact, everything was good!!!
As mentioned - initial response is that it's just another dusty little one horse town - but thete were MANY travellers who used this town as a stopover - as did we.
When we left I opted to return to the N9 via a dirt road and got to enjoy a stunning little pass.
Well worth visiting!

Thanks guys.
As trips go it wasn't a major one, nor am I big into trip reports [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787].
What I did realise was that I'm getting too damn old to be sleeping more than 1 night on an inflatable mattress!!!

If you stayed on the N2 over the Van Stadens bridge then you didn’t do the pass. If you drove down into the Van Stadens river valley and back out then you did the pass.
It’s really a very different road so how you “aren’t sure” is worrying [emoji1787]

I actually didn't take note at the time - was raining heavily and I was low on fuel....
Did see a board with it's name but as I said - didn't take much notice at the time.
Doesn't really matter though - have to go down to PE in feb so I'll make a point of doing it this time round - along with any others that may be in the vicinity.

... that looks like a real good circuit Shane,
but you were really on the hop for 10 days ,
but covered a lot of tick-boxes .
Would've been 2-3 weeks plus for me !

Was the rain so heavy that you couldn’t notice that you were either driving over that very straight dual lane road in the distance (a national highway) or down and up a steep winding narrow unmaintained road into this valley?Shane wrote:I actually didn't take note at the time - was raining heavily and I was low on fuel....

Well Kurt seeing that it was the first time in that area I wouldn't have known what the pass looked like.
But I think it's safe to say that I didn't do it.
Having said that, some of the other passes were totally unmarked & unremarkable and I wouldn't have known I was on them had I not seen their names showing on the GPS..... A function I only picked up on late into the holliday.
But I'll be sure to take enough pics for you if I get time to do it in feb [emoji6].

Shane morning, we toured the Baviaans in Dec 2016, and we stayed in the Makedaat caves, it was the year that area burned so badly. Was it wet and green? Did you enter from Willomore side and exit on the Patensie side?
