1. It has a motor even I could rebuild in a weekend.
2. It is Fibreglass so won't rust.
3. Can be used to pop into the office
4. Can be towed with A frame to St Francis every weekend as a run around.
5. Can have canvas doors and roof added for wet days.
6. At 6 foot with a bad back I will be climbing up into it rather than falling in to it.
7. What else can you by for R100k that offers that value?

That's the beauty of it.
It has no Cons, many valid Pro's & is unique in that no other options offer the same advantages.
It what I call a 'No Brainer' - do it Frosty, it'll be huge fun on the beach...

Cons.

1) Overpriced.
2) Will seldom be used.
3) Have to take a loan.
4) Just a toy, toys are never worth their money.

I notice you can get a street legal, tons of fun Mahindra That for a little over R100k.
It's street legal & can, if you have to, do a long trip.

I cannot think of a single disadvantage of the Thar over this Rotrax thing.

Plus it will be easier to sell in a few months than the Rotrax

I did a search on Autotrader, I selected 'fun' offroad vehicles under R150k.
I selected the:
Thar
Scorpio
Terios
Jumny (there are no SJ's on Autotrader)
& a few others.

Unfortunately I don't believe any of those fall in my mechanical ability. I have rebuilt the engines on a Ford Bantam, Mazda MX6 and Opel Kadet GSE. The ones mentioned above are out of my brain range.
