I am starting to learn how to drive the auto correctly.

Urban consumption presently is just north of 10km/l.

So with careful driving you can get a so-so fuel consumption.

My 2010 KB300 D-Teq with 230 000km on the clock & only 5 gears, gets over 10km/l driven by a contractor who is always in a hurry, in Jo'burg, at altitude & it occasionally carries loads between 500kg & 1200kg...

Manny, I'll put my cock on a block and bet by the time my Ford goes in for its first service, it will average 11+ km/l combined cycle. As for your invincible Isuzu, its most probably not a 4x4, rarely goes over 100kph with the tyres inflated to 3bar (to compensate for the 500-1200kg load).

We drove the mighty Touran to Wales today. We drove about 300km and the economy was 4.6L/100km. Not one speed hump.

I also tend to nurse a vehicle when it's new - just to check best possible consumption.

But in reality I don't drive like that so the excercise is actually futile.

Focus on enjoying it. It's a nice vehicle.
