Carnage Canyon - Limpopo

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

I don't know how many people here know about Carnage Canyon.
A few Club members have done it (SAXJ, Panda etc).

Basically, you do not get a tougher trail, except maybe Letsele Pass.

Carnage is 6.2km long.
It takes 2 days.
The last 200m can take 2 hours.

Ideally you need:
An SFA 4x4 with decent lift, 33" or 35" tyres & support.

Read this:

I'm toying with the idea of arranging a 4x4 AG outing there next year.
A few guys with the right vehicle do the route.
The rest of us go to camp, support & spectate.

You can get to the campsite with an Off-Road camper - but it's wild camping.

If there is enough interest we can reach out to Ron Hairbottle of Traction 4x4...

Definitely interested as a spectator.
As you will recall I attended as a spectator and it was really a fun weekend.
I think both of us found out how uncomfortable a Unimog is.

You'll have to be very selective about which vehicles can take part

Yip, it's one of those trips that stand out in your memories.

I remember all the participants leaving at the start of day 2.
I was packing & sorting stuff at camp so I missed my ride.
About 20 mins later I left & started walking upstream.
I found an LED torch that someone had dropped & ridden over.
I took it to Ron who was relaxing in camp.
I then walked back to the river.
I was about 35 minutes behind the vehicles.

I walked for 12 minutes & caught up with the guys.
They had barely covered a kilometer...

Tiny will LOVE Carnage Canyon.

Like River Trip, you have to go post rains as you drive upstream.
But unlike River Trip, this water is still flowing.

Depending on the dates, a friend and I would like to join as spectators. So when are you thinking of doing it Manuel?
