... I would venture that, on the Pico Chair, those ground-level cross-straps would counter and take a LOT of stress off the midway hinge brackets ,..
... Looks a good idea ...

Just an update on this FrontRunner Chair story:Mad Manny wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 5:03 pmOn Friday 25 September Pierrie(Bugger) Eksteen was sitting next to me on his awesome fold up chair.
I have the same chair, as does Avon, they are great, you flip, flap, fold them up into a small bag the size of a small narrow briefcase.
But they are pricey.

Anyhoo, when bugger stretched out his long legs& leaned back, the chair collapsed.
I was sitting next to him, it was funny to see him suddenly drop to the floor.![]()
Now the chair is rated for 120kg, bugger weighs 118kg & his heels were on the ground.
So his chair weight must have been well under 100kgs.
Now given that the chair costs well over R1100 & given that it is made by South Africa's premier supplier of camping accessories, I felt a warranty swop out would be available.
As I was going to Back Walker to buy another such chair (they are really nice) I offered to take it in for Pierre.
So about a week later (early October) I popped to Kyalami, bought a new chair (unfortunately they had no carry bags for the chair).
Once Id paid for my chair I handed them Bugger's chair & told them the story.
The guy told me what parts had failed immediately (obviously its happened before).
Unfortunately they were out of stock of the flimsy parts.
They did not offer to take the chair - but suggested I return in a month (early November).
They were very friendly & helpful...
In mid November I popped in again - they still did not have parts.
I then gave Bugger his chair back at the 2020 YEF.
In late January/early February 2021 I called Front Runner - still no parts.
I gave up...

Then, at the Marakele Weekend last week (6 to 9 August 2021) I had my old chair at Onree's campsite.
So I dug out the new one, that had only been used, by Tanya, at the NKZN trip earlier this year - so 4 days use.
This I placed in my tent to sit on when putting on shoes & socks etc.
I return from the shower, decided to sit & put my shoes on & place my hands on the armrests as I lower my self down, just as my butt touches the chair - it collapses in a mangled heap.
As proof I had put virtually no weight on it - I just stood up - I was still supporting most of my weight.
I was not amused...

So today I took it to FrontRunner - ready, if necessary (& given my mood - even if NOT necessary) to issue a few PK's.
As I arrive, the guy who I bought it off greets me & says he remembers selling it to me.
I explain the chairs are crap.
I tell him the Bugger story - he recalls it well - says they now have spares.
I hand him my chair & wait - having a browse at their lovely - albeit pricey - merchandise.
Lessew calls to say he is at the Roccomammas across the road.
We have a quick burger & committee meeting (Wessel & I are the 4x4AG Committee after all).
I head back, the guy hands me my chair - all fixed & ready to go.
He says 'No Charge!'.
So well done to Front Runner...
