They have already retracted that statement.
Gauteng Government wants it scrapped.
National Government, who benefitted greatly from issuing tenders etc, obviously needs it in place....

As from the reports Jacob Mamabola's statement has been denied.
However, the Organisation for Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) – who has campaigned fiercely against e-tolls – expressed caution over the announcement on Thursday. For the moment, they’ll be keeping their champagne on ice.

“While OUTA would LOVE for this to be true after our intense fight to get e-tolls scrapped, we must point out that we are waiting for the Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula or Gauteng Premier David Makhura to issue a statement. We are careful to celebrate before it’s official…”

I'd not jump into excitement yet, unfortunately. We can only see what may, or may not, happen when Mbalula or Makhura issue statements.
EJ for short.

Well, to be fair, OUTA want you to keep paying your monthly fee, they want that income, but yes, the ANC has no clue as to what the ANC is doing
