ULTIMATE TRAIL MASTER
Introduction:
The idea behind developing Ultimate Trail Master (UTM) was to try stimulate interest in 4x4'íng whilst also recognising those who are active & who achieve more than the average Off Road user.
ANYONE who abides by the rules of the competition & participates in the spirit in which the competition is run, is welcome to participate.
Post #3 details how each of the FOUR categories works.

III. Cinquenta Desafios
(50 CREDITS Challenge)
The 50 CREDITS Challenge is simple, you must collect 50 CREDITS, where you were the principle driver, at any time in your lifetime.
Please Note: You can only list a venue ONCE, no matter how many times you have done it. You cannot get more than one CREDIT per venue.
Between Hennops, De Wildt, Moegatle & Att Se Gat I have over 25 visits. But those will only count as 4 'venues' & therefore 4 CREDITS.
If you did the Richtersveld 6 times - it only counts ONCE (one venue).
WARNING: I will pick 3 or 4 of the 50 & ask you to prove you were there. Inconclusively.
CREDITS:
How do you collect Credits:
There are THREE ways to accrue Credits:
One: 4x4 Trails
Any 4x4 Trail like; De Wildt, Hennops, Atlantis Dunes, Brakkeduine etc.
A Venue can only count ONCE: So if you went to, say Base4 as part of a fun day, then for an AAWDC event & then to compete in RFAD & then as a competitor in a competition & then for training - you can only count it ONCE.
Two: Overlanding:
How do you collect CREDITS for Overlanding Trips?
Any Overlanding trip in Southern Africa; Richtersveld, Kalagadi, Zambia, Namibia etc (* see below) counts.
Note:The competitor must have been the principle driver, in his/her own vehicle & accommodation must have been (largely) camping (Ground Tent, TTT or RTT).
i). National Overlanding (within SA Borders):
If you do a camping trip to, say, the Richtersveld, you count the trip, providing you camped for 3 or more nights.
If you stayed in a chalet on 2 nights & stayed in your RTT on the 3rd night, it does NOT count - that's glamping.
ii). Cross Border Overlanding (leaving SA/your Home country):
A trip to Botswana in a tour group using hired vehicles & staying in pre-erected tented camps & cabins does not qualify.
You score Cross Border Overlanding CREDITS like this;
You count each international border you cross, outbound, once, you can count camping in a country as long as you camped for 3 or more nights.
Example;
18. Botswana/Namibia Trip. June 2017 - SA/Botswana border ONE CREDIT
19. Botswana/Namibia Trip. June 2017 - 3 nights camping @ Nata ONE CREDIT
20. Botswana/Namibia Trip. June 2017 - Botswana/Namibia border crossing ONE CREDIT
21. Botswana/Namibia Trip. June 2017 - Camping in Namibia at Naukluft, Etosha & Caprivi ONE CREDIT
You CANNOT however count the border crossings on the return leg, as you've already counted them.
However, if you returned via the Namibia/SA border (which you didn't do on the outbound route), then you can count it.
Example;
22. Botswana/Namibia Trip. June 2017 - Namibia/SA border crossing.
iii).Passes: If you did a trip including passes you may count the passes.
Example;
10. Passes Tour 2016: SA/Lesotho border crossing ONE CREDIT
11. Passes Tour 2016: Sani Pass ONE CREDIT
12. Passes Tour 2016: Qacha's Nek ONE CREDIT
13. Passes Tour 2016: Ongeluks Nek ONE CREDIT
If you camped for three or more nights on that tour, you can count it. ONE CREDIT
Example;
14. Passes Tour 2016: Camping in Lesotho, Himeville & 2 nights in Rhodes.
Please note, that Camping on an Overlanding trip only counts if you camp for 3 or more nights & camping on that trip only counts once - no matter how many nights (over 3) you camped.
Note: If you do a difficult (4x4 Pass) on an Overlanding trip (like Akkedis Pass in the Richtersveld, Baboons Pass in Lesotho, Van Zyls on a Nam tour, Road to Hell on the Namaqua Eco Route etc.) you may count that pass IN ADDITION to the other Credits for that Overlanding Trip...
Three: Camping:
If you camp (not in a caravan) in a RTT, TTT or ground Tent for THREE or more CONSECUTIVE nights You get One Credit.
Not, if the 3 consecutive nights are at 3 different venues, it still counts (One Credit)
How it Works:
1. Complete the online registration form on [www.4x4actiongroup.co.za, click on Event Calendar]
2. Pay the Registration Fee of R55.55 using your name, followed by 50 (Cinquecento) as the reference.
3. Submit your evidence & documentation [madmannydefreitas@yebo.co.za (drop the mad)].
4. The competitor will then be sent a Competitor Number.
5. Once you have collected 50 Credits, it will be announced & a Certificate will be issued.
IV. Cento e Um Desafios

The rest of the rules are EXACTLY the same as for Cinquenta Desafios
How it Works:

2. Pay the Registration Fee of R101.00 using your name, followed by 101 (Cento e Um) as the reference.
3. Submit your evidence & documentation [madmannydefreitas@yebo.co.za (drop the mad)].

You know the Western Cape boys very seldom venture over or past the pretty mountains. I can't see anyone of us getting to 50.
But it is fantastic for those who can and do. Well done

I entered the 50 trails and extreme challenges , have done Carnage canyon , but think the time to do the rest mite not be there as we need to be a couple to partake in the challenges and setting it up does not always suit all.
How do we manage to do this in the current situation?
