OUTSTANDING Service & Product Back-Up!

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

Like all of you, I've had my fair share of crappy back up & service (I'm referring to 4x4/Overland/Outdoors/Overlanding suppliers).
Most recently when Front Runner displayed their Legend - ary disinterest in backing a product once it left the shop (Bugger's Chair).

However, over the years I have had/or heard of great service & product support:

1. Caterpillar Workwear:
I had a pair of Cats, 11 years old, the one heel came off. I wanted to stick it back. No one could tell me what glue to use.
I called Caterpillar & asked them. They asked all sorts of questions about where & when I bought them & if I had a receipt
I said "Look, these shoes are 11 years old, I can't recall when or where I bought them, this is not a complaint, I just want to know what glue to use".
She asked if I still had the box, I said "Yes, but these shoes are 11 years old, I can't recall when or where I bought them, this is not a complaint, I just want to know what glue to use".
She asked for my address & said they'll look at the shoes. I relented & said 'Fine".
They fetched the shoes & a few days later dropped off a brand new pair, exactly the same model etc.

2. Awesome Tools:
I know of guys who broke the blade of a Leatherman & Awesome tools replaced it - no questions asked.

I recently had similarly awesome service...

3. Indeflate:
I have been a fan of Indeflate since I first discovered the product on another Forum, in fact I praised it so much that sales there increased.

Well, the day after our AGM last month (March 2021) I was using the Indeflate to balance the pressures on an old work Isuzu.
(How my guys managed to get one tyre at 2.2 & another at 2.8 & another at 3.0 when the pressures for that bakkie is 2.4bar, I don't know). Anyhoo, as I was finishing up the gauge dropped from the edge of the bak onto the tiled floor of my garage and the gauge glass broke.
After 6 or 7 years of field use, with others using it - not a scratch, but here in my tiled garage I break the damn thing.

A few days later Japie of Off Course 4x4 called me & I asked if he ever goes into Indeflate, he said he was there right now & I asked him to ask them if they can fix it.
I stressed that mine is one of the original ones with the USGauge gauge, not the newer Indeflate branded gauge.

Anyway, I dropped it off with Ant Forgey @ Ant's Custom Workshop (Plug :D ). That weekend Ant saw Japie as they were shooting an episode.
A week later Japie said it's fixed. I told him to return it to Ant & today I collected it there.

Indeflate sommer just replaced the entire gauge with a new Indeflate branded gauge.

It cost less than a few beers.

Well done Japie & well done Indeflate.

Now if we could only do something about FrontRunners poor warranty support...

I can vouch for caterpillar boots. Their safety boots might be expensive, but should you have problems, they replace.
