There were too many Xj Jeeps behind that mog, so it played Dead. But great meeting you David.

Sorry to hear David. I can still kick my ass for selling my Mog a few years ago. Serious off-road vehicles, hope you will have the old girl in good shape again soon.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4 :D

The help received from everybody yesterday was just wonderful. So thankful for you all.

The only mechanical damage was a ruptured fuel line which caused us all endless grief on the trail, but after righting the mog, drove some great obstacles until it was time to head home.

So yet again, i didn't complete this difficult trail (last time the group ran out of time, and the group leader had a drivetrain failure).

Third time's a charm! After some panelbeating....

The damage looks much worse on that first pic that Manny posted than what it is. Here's another angle:

Dawid, what pressures were you running? Just out of interest. Not relevant to the fall over.

Not sure how vehicle rolled over ...
but google says Unimogs tilt limit is 38 deg
vs Defenders 40
and L-Cruisers 45 ... 😳 ?

assuming its when CoG moves beyond wheel contact line
then there's a playoff of tilt vs clearance over and above weight distributio, height of CoG etc. ... so lift adaptions and oversize wheels etc relevant.
I think it fell because he punched the front right wheel up that incline.
Had he been able to crawl it slowly he would probably have been OK.
But Dawid doesn't have those ultra low crawler gears (he wanted to get them).

But let's not analyse the crap out of what happened like they do on AnythingButt4x4.cum.

Let's admire the guys who were out 4x4'ing & be proud of the4x4AG guys who assisted Dawid
(while the non AG guys drove off).

THIS is why this club exists...

Yes , hats off to guys that get off-road when we dont
and guys like Jaco who help and dont just pass by ...
and yes the later video gave better insight to what happened ...
but I think its good to think about & learn not only from our own but others experiences and events.

Well done Jaco and company, great stuff.

Dawid - is a new windscreen relatively easy to come by? The rest seems it will just buff out with some spoeg and elbow grease
Flex is overrated

Around 1.8 bar - which I find, in practice, translates roughly to running about 1 bar or less in a normal 2-ton 4x4.
I only deflate more if really needed - which has only happened once.

Yeah, if you look at the crazy obstacles that we drove later on, it's so unbelievably silly that I tipped the Unimog there.
Shit happens I guess.

Driving a Unimog, with all that storage space packed with tools, fluids etc, I often end up being the guy that (gladly) helps others, or at least supplies tools or consumables when needed.

With everything that happened yesterday, the tables were completely turned - and I am so very grateful for everybody that helped me.

Not only with pulling her right side up, but also for sticking around and/or helping when I had the persistent problems with my leaking fuel line, which effectively ruined everybody's trip. Manny needs to give you all a medal :-)

Worst of all, I am wracked with guilt because I leaked a lot of power steering fluid (perhaps 5 liters) and a bit of gearbox oil onto that riverbed when I tipped over. I'm not sure about the polluting qualities of hydraulic fluid, but I am pretty sure it's terrible, and I wish there was something that I could do to reduce the impact of that spill.

The Mog took that fall like a champ, but I think the entire cab is bent a bit. Will have to be pulled straight and panels beaten.
I'm hopeful that obtaining a windshield won't be too big of a problem.
