This is exactly why I opted for the IronMan bull bar and not any of the locally made jobs, none of the local guys do any air bag compatibility testing, just ask them for their certificate... they suddenly give you a whole shpeel about this and that, but no certificate to produce...

IronMan is NOT the only one that is Airbag compliant & Crash Tested.
The ARB one & the ONCA product are too.

But the cheaper locally made ones are not.

Great to see that manufactures spend lots of money on R&D. I actually didn't know they were this thorough

100% there are others, just the IronMan is very well priced compared to the other imports.

When I was looking for a bull bar ONCA could not produce a certificate and gave me the standard sales talk that all the other local guys give... so I did decided not to believe them.

I for one don't understand the need for a bullbar.

You guys live in pretty Africa.

Come to my home town and you will probably have to stop about 40 times for animals crossing the road in the last 200km. In the 15 years I have been driving, I am yet to run over an animal.

We have another animal here. It is called a "Taxi".
And that is the only reason I would like to fit a bull bar.

Then I want to add a small modification. On each edge of the bull bar fit a piece of angle iron. To cut the skin of the "animal"

It's because certain cockwombles take the name literally that the Aussies have a 'Roo Bar' & many companies call theirs Nudge Bars or 'Replacement Bumpers'...

Mine is for pushing the limits off-road. The stock plastic ones don't last very long with me.

I fitted the bull bar for a much better approach angle, the std bumper would touch here and there, its also nice, as said above, for taxi's and other bad road users, people do not "take a chance" when you have a big bull bar attached to the nose of your vehicle. Also lekker for mounting spot lights, winch and external antenna...

A Defender bullbar is heavy and looks impressive
but, I must admit, its not a strong structure...
Ive often wanted to cut the top trellising etc off
(to be simpler, more like a a Series )
but Ive been told if you hit a cow, kudu etc
it does help a bit ...

it needs gussets down in the wings of the
structure to give it more strength and rigidity.
