Individual wheel drive

#1

Post by Samaya »

Came across this and thought I should share...

Basically why Individual drive 4WD will be better than 4WD with a differential - electric vehicles with a motor on each wheel.

Brilliant video - he went to a lot of effort &explains nicely.
I fully agree with him about the advantages of IWD.

But I;ll be driving an ICE'd 4x4 with a gearbox & transfer cae as long as I possibly can.

EV is the Devil's invention!

Interesting concept... but can you have individual V8‘s instead of Electric motors?

You can but from what I have read the in-wheel motors coming out now pushes 1000nm. BUT use that ICE V8 to power the generator. Power of electric with the sound of a V8 😁

There was a twin-engined Mini called the Twini - had a chev V8 in the back & another in the front, two clutches, the rear one disengaged just before the front one...

The giant +- 200t ore haulage trucks in open-caste
mining operations often have motors driving each wheel.
... if you look up in the cabs at Anglo mines
they normally have women driving them,
as they're deemed to be calmer, more careful and
less adventurous folk that dont race & mess around ...
Pity young tyre-kicker Kurt is not here to tell us about them ... but he's now exiled in London ...

World's first Individual Wheel Drive vehicle was produced in 1866...

Nice to see people thinking out of the box but it’s complete overkill. Why buy a car with 4 engines, just get a plane/chopper then so that you don’t have the troubles coming with a car

Very innovative, well explained but very boring engineering.

I am with Manny on this subject
