You get Indies and Indies. I am 100% sure most engines will do the 100k km warranty
With little maintenance and skipped services.

Be prepared for some very neglected vehicles entering the market...

This ruling could lead to a lot less dealer showrooms as they will lose vehicle maintenance which is one of their cash cows that keep them going.

As to vehicle prices reducing, dream on. The dealers will just say that they need to increase their margins on sales of new cars to compensate for loss of maintenance work.

If the dealers are to take on a attitude like this, expect a big drop in new car sales.

Andreas, I agree, the routine stuff covers the basics, its the big ticket items that bring in the real money.
But you need the guys to come in for the routine stuff to get the big work.

My last service was only R1800 odd.
But then they quoted on brakes, a turbo repair & some stabilizer bar.
Had I said 'Proceed' they have scored another R42k out of me...

My wife's 200 just went in for a service.
R4900 later and that includes replacement front brakes. R1400 of that bill was labor. I guarantee you that at least 20% of the price of parts are for profit, if not more.

So the dealers are making a pretty penny, with or without big ticket items.

The vehicle was worked on for 90mins. In and out.

The times I've been ripped off by 'Mechanics' has NEVER been by dealers:

The biggest rip offs in my experience were:

Steve's Auto Clinic (a few times - most useless bastards on God's green earth)
Gearmax (twice).

The only bad experience with Dealers was when Supergroup owned my local Isuzu dealership and they added R380 for a engine steam clean to my bill....
Toyota has been fantastic to me..

Who carries the blame if something breaks within the warranty period and the vehicle was serviced by others?

Or is the vehicle out of warranty by default if not serviced by the dealerships?
