Interesting.
I'd like to see how it compares to its competitors.
Firstly wrt to cover.
Secondly on Excesses &
Finally if the premiums are competetive.

Hi Manny,
this will definitely be a valuable insight.
The best way to do this is quote against current insurance provider. You are welcome to send me year model etc details on your towable and 4x4 for a quote.
I can guarantee that the offering is very well positioned. Bruce Willows the product developer has been in the industry for many years and has extensive experience relating to the underwriting and development of these products specifically for the South African market. In fact Bruce was the initial founder of one of the very well known insurance companies a lot of us use for our offroad-cross border insurance.
True-Grit has made extensive effort to keep this insurance product limited to off-road related vehicles and towables including whatever items you will take with you on these trips(Fishing and Hunting Gear, Bicycles, Photography equipment etc.). They have no interest in taking on your other insurable items such as building, household contents or your cellphone, these will remain on your other personal insurance policies. This is a specialised insurance solution for the off-road user.
So far the rates quoted have been cheaper than competitors.
Excesses can be structured according to how the clients would like them. You have the "no excess" option which obviously comes at a premium.
Remember that members of the 4x4 AG club qualify for preferential rates.

As most of you are aware, I have an iron in this fire.
It will be good to have another entry into this market, which is realistically dominated by two players. That said, it's a very specialised, and relatively small, market, and most motor only insurers have moved away from this model following consistent losses over the years, adding other categories of cover (household, homeowners, business etc) to their portfolios to mitigate the risks. In fact, a few no longer accept new motor-only business.
Given Bruce's experience with Cross Country, I'm interested to know whether True-Grit will also be using CIMS for their support services? The networks and contacts required to successfully and efficiently undertake repatriations and provide remote assistance take years to build.
Will the product be available to brokers, and if so, please send me a PM in respect of the requirements for an agency.

I jumped through all sorts of hoops to register with CIMS and has yet to be contacted for even a quote.
Maybe I am just not experienced enough.

All sounds good, BUT, if I would like to have that insurance, I will still have to insure my house contents and business with another company. Bit inconvenient to have two insurance companies to deal with.

Which company are you insured with that diesnt insist on a tracking device or at least give a discount if you fit one?
I know many years ago some tracking devices drew power or interfered with immobilizers.
But that was many years ago.
I have tracking in 6 vehicles and have had no issues in many, many years...

I have a 2008 Suzuki SX4, which doesn't get driven much, but the tracker is pretty effective at draining it's battery.

So... you wont have a tracker fitted.
You do have a tracker fitted.
I think Anti Trackers are like Anti Vaxxers.
You guys need to wear tin foil hats...
