Started to fabricate the bracket on which the load bin will be secured. Still need to weld 45° braces in - 3 of them. The bracket is secured to the chassis by two 10mm bolts. The idea is to weld two further arms from the bracket to the frame.
This will hopefully stop the bracket from tilting forwards or backwards when under load.

After I have welded on the 45s and the arms, then it is merely an matter of strengthening the frame where required with a few diagonals here and there - for peace of mind.
Then I need to go through all the welds to ensure that I have have good welds everywhere. For this I will remove the whole frame so that I can turn it on its side etc. to get a convenient angle to weld (and grind).
Once I am done with that, its just a matter of cutting the aluminum skins and riveting it in place.
After that:
1) Paint the frame and skins;
2) strip the old paint from the chassis and repaint it;
3) Paint the rims;
4) Service the engine, re-time it and clean the fuel tank (painting this too).
5) Marry the frame and chassis;
6) Wiring, lights and switches;
7) Connect the fuel line and take it for a spin - at least 50km.
With the current progress (and constant hiccups) I am going to try and finish it by 31 August 2019. Then its off to the in-law's farm to give them the early Christmas present.
I must admit, I an properly gatvol of grinding and welding. Fabrication is a bitch. I would much more prefer to paint and work on the motor...

Oh, and before I forget, I have learned one valuable lesson: When you work out a budget for something like this, multiply it by two and then some! It easily becomes a deep and dark money pit.
