Just went in and enquirer about JL prices .
They aren’t sure yet. But a ‘full spec’ Rubicon looks like it will be R1 050 000. That’s the penta 3.6 with 8 speed. Box
They aren’t sure if that includes the electric roof or not ...
The Gladiator will be more.
Given that you can currently buy a 3.0 CRD GC for under 800k ... Eina

So the JL will be 35% more than the outgoing JK.
No wonder Jeep is closing dealerships.
Suddenly the D5 seems only slightly overpriced...

It would not make it in SA as a hard working 4x4. Leisure and City stuff yes.
Even if you need a kidney belt it will be of no competition to the DC V8 diesel Cruiser.
You will never find me without Stroh or a 4x4

the payload on the JL is a bit light. 750kg (1500lbs) . Towing capacity is listed at 3500kg though.

That is a bit light. The Cruiser has some serious leaf packs.
Although being FCA, they could even adopt the RAM options where the rear end can be spec’d accordingly

Payload may seem light by local farm vehicles' standards, but considering they're seemingly aiming at the Tacoma in the U.S., it's right where it needs to be.
The above may contain varying amounts of A+ advice, mocking sarcasm, harmless needling or worthless drivel. Good luck!

In the states the Wrangler is considered a light vehicle.
the F150 / Ram 1500 is a 1500lb Load limit - 750kg (less in fact)
Likewise, F250 or Ram 2500 is 2500lbs, F350 Ram 3500 is 3500lbs F550 5500lbs and the F650 6500lbs....
So yes, they are aiming right at other Premium Crew Cab trucks in the states , which the pricing also indicates...
