I went from the GY Wrangler to the Pirelli Scorpion ATR+ on my Pathfinder and it is a vast improvement, also road noise a lot better. A few people have done 100K km on a set

Have you considered Maxxis?
They get really good reviews, maybe GarrethG can comment as he loved them, and the 764 is priced better than the STmaxx

Isn’t the 764 a MT?

STMaxx is an off-road bias AT, not a MT.

The speed rating of the Maxxis puts me off, not that I’m speed freak but a max of 130 km/h ???
Its nice to hear all the opinions and maybe all of us can learn from this thread.

Sorry my mistake, I maybe got confused with older Bighorns. The kumho kl71 is also nice. Not sure if I want to go for a full on Mud tyre for a daily driver. The hybrid design of the ST Maxx and Mickeys are the way I’m think of going. On my Hilux the StMaxx tyres outlast any other brand that I have tried by a long shot.

The STmaxx is a very aggressive A/T if you want to compare it to A/T but a quick inspection of the tread puts it right up there with other M/T tyres.

I was told my ST Maxx is 60% AT, 40% Mud - whatever that means.
But basically an AT/Mud hybrid...

I did AD, but I can't comment as Fearless & I were terrible, so the tyres remained within their limits.
I've done the Sand at Waterford Northern Cape & if you go down to 0.6 (hot) they are fine... did not feel the tyres were an issue...
But as I say, a D-4D can't push an ST Maxx near it's limits on sand...

Plenty guys run STMaxx in sand & they work well. Much better than a regular AT
