A wheel & tyre tale - with great service

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

My 2006 Conqueror Conquest Trailer has 16" rims with 265/65 16" Tyres.
I need to replace the tyres & rims.
I've decided to go 15" & fit 245/75 15's.

The reasons for this are:
* The one rim (spare) is buckled.
The tyres are over 11 years old.
The tyres are too wide so spacers were fitted to prevent them catching.
The current Diameter is 777mm, but it should be 750mm, meaning the tent is about 13 or 14mm higher (minor point).

So I mailed Premier Wheels (one of our banner advertisers)as Emile had received good service from them recently.

Their service has been great, Johan even called me this evening to get a clear understanding of my needs& to try establish what Offset I require.

Impressed...

Is the Conqueror standard 16" size not 245/70/16? :?: Mine are ;)

I would guess Conqueror fitted spacers as the wider tyre rubs  And the newer trailers are fitted with 245's

15" make sense, cheaper option, also easier to replace if you need a tyre out there in the sticks.

Personally I would select a different rim colour, either black or silver (I think you can only get new silver ones in 15" but your tyre guru can confirm with A-Line - black will be back to 16" ) as the white rims look cheap and don't go well with off road beige & green trailer.

PS: dibs on the spacers please

Ge'Off, it's a 4006 Trailer that I bought in 2014.
I think the previous owner, John Angelblooms, did the tyre upgrade.
The Rims are probably original.

So 16" is the OEM size.

But I want 15" to standardize with The Houyse Doctor fleet...

I wanted to fit EXACTLY the same rims & tyres as Fearless has, but a 265/70 17" won't fit & will raise the trailer by nearly 30mm.

You can have the spacers with pleasure...

Aha, that makes sense, I thought your trailer was a slightly newer model and the tyres were the original factory fitted ones.

If I recall 15" is the std Conqueror size, but nearly everyone upgraded to the 16" as from new its only a few hundred Rands on the purchase price.

15" make sense, so your fleet maintenance can pay for new tekkies on your trailer and no-one would question the cost as its the same size as your awesome Isuzus's

Send before and after pics 8-)
