Nissan's current Dinosaur Patrol, the Y62 with the 5.6L V8 was launched 15 years ago.
Nissan has revealed that they will, finally & belatedly, launch its replacement later this year.
The new Y63 Patrol will have a twin turbo 3.0 V6 petrol & a 9 speed box.
No news on when the notoriously poor Nissan SA, who are in "Sales Prevention" mode, will launch it here.
Some of the renderings are looking quite good. Seems like it will be available in USA in the coming months. Knowing Nissan they will work as hard and fast as they could to get it ready for RHD markets, so we should see it in 3 - 4years time 8-)

Pulled the trigger on a demo Steed 5 DC for R305k.
You are like the guys on that other Forum, ask for advice with a set of parameters then buy something outside of those parameters.
You said Single Cab then bought Double Cab....

The wife and the price were too much to ignore. And we did the measurements: with the back tailgate down, I can still fit 2 x dirtbikes on the loadbed.
And that with aircon and price were my only real criteria. I've never really cared what I drive if it performs the stated function.

In retrospect: the Tata Xenon DiCOR is/was a bloody underrated workhorse that punched above its weight.
It could carry a load well in excess of the stated maximum, the body and chassis were harder than RG Snyman, and the understressed 3.0 common rail diesel didn't skip a beat in 300,000 kms. What failed on it? An alternator, that fried some stuff due to a faulty voltage regulator. THAT IS IT in 14 years of ownership. Yes, the dashboard and plastics are made from recycled Tupperware, but nothing fell off and nothing broke. That thing would happily haul a cubic meter of WET plaster sand up Zilkaatsnek in 3rd gear: I've seen unladen Toyota LC79s do worse up that hill.

… far as I can see Bolero motor is higher cap 2.5L motor
with far higher low-end torque vs the 2.2L MHawk version
city-fella motor in a auto geared Skorpio-n …
The GWM Steed is, again, a step more urbane, and , arguably, rather more suited to the BrewMasters catholic clients .

I think their Webmaster died of boredom, the only line up changes they make is model deletion.

Compare their 5 model line up to Toyotas:
1. Vitz (Celerio)
2. Starlet Cross (Fronx)
3. Starlet (Baleno)
4. Urban Cruiser (Grand Vitara)
5. Corolla Quest
6. Corolla Cross
7. Corolla in hatch and sedan
8. RAV4
9. Fortuner
10. Land Cruiser 250 Prado
11. Land Cruiser 300
12. Land Cruiser 76 SW
13. Land Cruiser 79 in S/Cab and D/Cab
14. Hilux in S/Cab, Extended Cab & D/Cab
The first four are made by Maruti in India, so are they really rebadged Suzuki's?

That's why I put the Suzuki name in brackets after the Toyota name.

If you go to the UK you will find a Suzuki Across, it's a rebadged RAV4 Hybrid, the two companies work closely together.

Some of the Maruti Suzukis are built in a Toyota plant in India, for example....

If you think this is cheating, read the next post.... :D

Stellantis comprises
Abarth (basically Fiat)
Citroen (basically crap)
DS (Electric Citroens, I think)
Jeep (Off roaders for Homosexuals) Vauxhaul (basically Opel)
Opel (basically Vauxhaul)
FIAT (If it's Italian and you can't eat it ~ don't buy it)
Peugeot (See Citroen)
Chrysler (Yank crap)
Dodge (ditto)
RAM (the only decent thing they sell)
Maserati (a Ferrari for Peasants).
So Stellantis is basically RAM then inbred crap.
The Jeep Renegade is just a rebodied Fiat 500, for example...

Then we have the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance.
Which includes Dacia and Infiniti.

The Nissan X Trail is a Renault Koleos
The Renault Kadjar is a Nissan Qashqai.
Datsun Go was a Renault Kwid.
Nissan Magnite & Renault Kiger are the same thing.
The next Patrol will spawn a Mitsubishi Pajero etc.

Suddenly Toyota rebadging some Suzukis doesn't sound so bad.... :D ;)

Chas, you are aware that is a UK article referring to cars in the UK.
The UK is to motoring what Afghanistan is to good, transparent governance.

The UK is to motoring what Sweden us to hot dark haired, brown-eyed girls.

The UK is to motoring what the UK is to voters making good choices...

You should be aware that Toyota has a low cost 'IMV' based Hilux in certain markets that should be coming to SA. The Hilux Champ/Stallion.
We'll it seems (unconfirmed by TMC) that this Bakkie will form the basis of the new FJ Cruiser.
So the FJ could be a low cost basic 4x4.
Talk is that it will be shorter, narrower and cheaper than a Fortuner.
This is all unconfirmed rumor, but the sources are seldom wrong.
If true, this will be great news!

Jake's you are right. Toyota doesn't sell basic vehicles like the Rumion, Starlet, Vitz, Starlet Cross or Urban Cruiser in SA.
In fact, if you ignore the Tazz, Quest, Etios, Stallion, TUV, & 70 series, they have never sold basic vehicles.

That's what differentiates Toyota from Audi, BMW, Merc, Jaguar & Land Rover, who have many basic offerings. :?

I'll eat my words if Toyota brings the Champ/Stallion into this country.
