Land Rover stopped making toughies in 2016, which is sad. We will have to wait to see what the next model will be.

Now that I agree. Having said that though Kingsley had had massive success with only slightly modified new Discoveries so maybe they only look soft.

Kingsley is sponsored. I wouldn’t believe much of what news we get out of his camp, they would never want the public to see a potential breakdown. Reputational damage and all

To this dateI have never seen a Jeep on a mine doing hard labour. Also never saw a farmer using any other Jeep than the old Gladiator, CJ 2A or CJ6, 7.

Still think the the old coal burning Cruiser are safe.

Toyota keep satifying the mines 70 Cruiser now 5 Star NCAP. Tow rate of v8 Cruiser 3t.

US special forces uses Cruisers in the Mid East Wars. :D :D

Kingsley knows which is the most capable & it’s the old 300 tdi.

But other than that, I don’t see any modern Land Rovers even attempting to enter serious competitions to take on their ancestors.

There’s mining versions of the J8, just not in SA. But older versions wouldn’t be allowed because of the reasons mentioned.

This was some time back that it became 5 star. It was 2 or 3 star. Then they added ABS & DSC or some or other aids to make it 5. But the problem is that what earns you 5 star today would have earned you 3 star a few years ago. So what will they add next to retain a 5 star rating? They will run out of tricks as ANCAP gradually move the goal posts.

Otherwise. How would you know it’s a Land Cruiser.

1HZ replaced in most markets by the V8. Only Africa and few other Countries that the 1HZ is stil available.

1HZ one of the last Diesel Engines left that are Africa proof.

I rather drive an under powered 1HZ cross border than being stuck deep in Africa

But the V8 is diesel so it the same emissions issue underground. Plus you have the turbo sucking up all the budgies oxygen.
