GTT 1 (13/07/2019 – 14/07/2019)
Gravel Travel Tour 1 of 2019
What: An easy gravel travel sojourn
Where: In and around the cradle of humankind
When: Saturday 13 July – Sunday 14 July
Plan: Saturday 13 July @ 08h00 sharp: Meet at Maggie’s Farm “the Home of the Chicken Pie” near Lanseria (-25.915827, 27.896415) for
breakfast. Everyone pays their own way if you decide to have some breakfast.
At around 09h00, we will drive off practising our convoy driving skills and radio use. This is a leisurely route and any standard
SUV/Bakkie will not have any issues. The route we will follow will be around 220km, of which 40% is gravel, to our overnight
camping spot at Weaver’s Roost.
We will stop somewhere for lunch & a cooldrink before continuing to our campsite. Come prepared for a cold evening.
Bring lots of braai wood (I wish Bazza could join us).
As it is one night, I am planning on camping “light” basically using my “River Trip” setup.
We have secured 8 camping spots at Weaver’s Roost but I am sure there are more available.
Food: Breakfast (Maggie’s Farm) and dinner for the Saturday must be provided by the attendees as well as the Sunday morning breakfast.
The Action Group will provide a few snacks at our “lunchtime” stop.
Costs: Accommodation is R100 per campsite plus R25 per person per night. For a couple it will be R150 for the night, for a bachelor it is R125 for the night. This one is open to members and member's friends & family so its perfect for newbies who want to get a feel for it.
Payments: You pay the Action Group for the accommodation and we will do a group booking on behalf of attendees.
Full payment is required by 5pm on Tuesday 02 July 2019 to secure your spot.
You MUST use your Forum Name or Name followed by GTT, for example “Crips GTT” or “Mad Manny GTT”.

We are keen but will have to see how I progress with growing together. I'll have to get the caravan serviceable before then too as the electrics are still in pieces.
The humble person makes room for progress; the arrogant person believes they’re already there.
