The REAL Ranger Raptor arrives in SA!!!

#1

Post by Mad Manny »

Just to clarify:
Ford has the Ranger - it's compact pickup.
Ford has the F-Series - it's medium size pick up.
They also have a full size pick up.

The REAL Raptor has always been a heavily fettle'd F-Series.

The in SA, men who like men who drive Wranglers started putting Homo-Erotic kits on their Rangers.
These vehicles were NOT Raptors in any way shape or form - it was just a motor equivalent of the old Dazzle Datsun.
Basically as tastefull & enlightened as fur on the dashboard, an orange on the aerial & dogs with nodding heads in the rear window.

BUT!!! That has all changed as Ford has finally, really launched an actual Ranger Raptor...

It's a bit of a let down ito price & engine - but it is a Raptor Ranger...

Read all about it...

From the article...

"The Ranger Raptor is powered by a new twin-turbo 2,0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine delivering 157 kW and 500 N.m of torque, and mated to a ten-speed automatic transmission. This new engine will be built at Ford’s Struandale engine plant in Port Elizabeth, while the Ranger Raptor itself will be produced both in Thailand and at the Silverton assembly plant.

That's a whopping 27kW & 80Nm more than a Hilux Raider...

Will definitely steel sales from the popular Merc and VW.

And. It might only be a few Kw and Nm more than the Hilux, but the suspension setup makes it worlds apart

If it steals ALL their sales it will sell about 300 a month...

If they sell 300 per month, Ford would be ecstatic

Add 27kw & 80kw to any vehicle & you’d notice. But like Mike says, the suspension will be very capable.

Based on the same platform as the vanilla Ranger? Is it really a Raptor or has Ford just decided to fit the add-ons themselves? These are legit questions, as I really do not know - I'm not "into" garden service vehicles in general.
I refuse to be POLITICALLY CORRECT to impress others - Deal with it

For the price difference, can't you fit a suspension that can compete?

Could this be sarcasm?

A trick suspension is not just about springs and shocks.

But it is about, camber angles, swivel points, and lever lengths, and a lot more.
There is much more to the Raptor suspension than what people think. One of the give away points is the much wider track, so that the longer leverages can be achieved. to help with suspension travel.

Then the perfect damping and spring rate... for the whole length of the travel. Trick stuff indeed.

Only if you convert the entire rear end from leafs to coils & multilinks. Might affect warranty 🤣
