Shocks etc.

Ok just a few small niggles then my truck should be trail ready!

I see I need to replace the front leaf pack - they look a little crappy!

I also need extended shocks - currently have ranchero RS9000's in but they too have seen better days!

I have spoken to Ronald at 4x4 traction and I'll see what he can offer.

Anything you guys might contribute to this conundrum - given that availability is a bitch at the moment!!!

Just a pic of the leaf springs. They are OME and supposedly their heavy duty pack.

I suppose the diesel D4D motor & gearbox weighs significantly more than the old 22R....

Those leaf springs are stressed Shane.

I don't think it will take much effort to either shear the shackle off the chassis, or worse...

I can't make much of a recommendation other than the above.

Besides that it will surely affect flex and driving quality.

Ok for a short term fix I'll have them re-tensioned and add an extra blade.

All done professionally of course.

I don't teally believe in re-tensioning but there isn't any stock in the country.....

So hopefully I'll be able to wheel again soon!

Sorry. You mention driving quality. We are talking of an SFA Hilux here are we not ?

As much as I love them, I'd really not use terms like "driving quality" in the same sentence as "SFA Hilux".

On a constructive note, I agree with Willem. I'd not do anything too hectic with those springs. The look uber-dodgy currently...

I am also not a fan of having spring steel re-tensioned. Dis vir kak soek.

It is near impossible to get the same temper on high carbon steel and if done incorrectly or by a moegoe, it will make it more brittle.

Think carefully before you consider re-tensioning.

So much so - that the chap who services the diffs reckoned it drove softer than his D4D!

But the 33 inch tyres do help though.

It must be the springs then... SFA Hiluxii normally require kidney belts for the driver and passengers.....
