No surprises there. Japanese manufacturers are known for reliability and they always stick to the KISS principle - unlike the Germans and the Yanks.

Hondas are liable because they are mostly owned by elderly.
Lexus is reliable because you get a 30% discount voucher after completing your first Masonic ritual.
Toyota is reliable because the vehicle is developed to be simplistic.
Yank vehicles only appear to be reliable because the Yanks don't know what reliability is
German vehicles are only driven by the verkrampt - you are bound to get a lot of after sale complaints.

Agreed, the European cars, especially the Germans, love the technology and fancy pants gizmo's, but when they go wrong, they are expensive to repair

I specifically excluded French vehicles. To my mind, if its French and you can neither f#*k it or eat it, don't spend money on it.

I’d put my plain vanilla Polo up against any of those on reliability and life.
(as long as it doesn’t get stolen before proving it)
Japs and Toyota’s coming near top makes sense though not as much as years ago.
Land Rover disadvantaged and stigmatized by FreeLander 1 etc which let the side down ,
and LR don’t sell small simple runabouts like the upper ranking winners and service & maintenance costs, esp of modern Discoveries is high.
However, if a top ranking Toyota driver guy pays a couple of hundred quid a year on his Corolla
and a Disco 4 or Porsche 911 guy pays 2 or 3 times that ... what’s all the fuss about ?
Bon Voyage, I say, old chap.

What makes you think modern LR are any better than the Freelander and Disco 3 etc when it comes to reliability?BushWacker wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2020 1:49 pmLand Rover disadvantaged and stigmatized by FreeLander 1 etc which let the side down ,

Modern is D3 and after ... FreeLander1 was a stinker but it was a new concept
and sold like hot cakes...
... but FreeLanders have got successively better over time , in my opinion.
