It is sad that our one day get together s have died down,
Myself I will be joining Anton Bodenstein and Tony Yeo , on the weekend of 16-19th June, we will be doing the river trip, and returning over the Ori Barargwaneth Pass. I will be doing it the Jimny.
I am busy with discussion with Tiger Wheel and Tire setting up a weekend at Rust de Winter, they want to branch out and reach out to 4*4 clubs such as ours.
Having recovered from Covid recently I had to get out and drove the John Rock track and mountain route last Saturday, the mountain route, Johnny have invited us as a.club. I will consider a July invite to.all interested in July.
GTG Oh GTG, wherefore art thou!

The Ori Baragwanath pass is an interesting beautiful drive. I did it in April. Nothing hectic but the route takes you up and over the mountains through fantastic indigenous forest.

… yes, and Ori Baragwanath led an interesting life,
in this interesting part of our land, that was well covered by TV Bulpin in the Trail of the Copper King and his other books on the NE Transvaal
Eg Bvakenya and Lost Trails of the Transvaal etc
Baragwanath and one Lewis travelled right up to the Copperbelt and were key in its early development.
This link below gives some info on Baragwanath and his
pass amd the full blog site makes for interesting reading
on overlanding and SA exploration.
(though the site is awkward to navigate etc )
