Manny's Feedback:
What a lekker day!
Preamble:
I must admit, I was a little concerned that it would be boring, humdrum, presentation - boy! was I wrong!
I arrived at just after 09:00, there wasn't a lot going on, but by 09:30 (the official start time) the place was active!
MikePS, Peet Bug Juice & Chas arrived, I saw Ant & Adele & went to say Hi!
Ant introduced me to the guy next to him, he turned & I saw it was Bernie Williams - seems he is still pissed off about us exposing OGATO.
By 10:30 (an hour late) John Ranseman (?spelling) Chairman of the 4WDCSA Club finally got on the mike.
He went through a few 4WDC items, then gave very thorough feedback on a recent trip the Club did.
John then gave a short discussion about the difference between DL & TC.
Then at 11:00 they drew the raffle & then there was a 10min break.
The 10 minute break only ended at 11:30 & John introduced 'Tree'
Finally we were off!

Manny's Feedback:
The Chartwell to Chartwell Presentation:
The presentation was brilliant, well presented & followed a logical flow.
Tree did most of the presentation, but his wife Helen & AliG also presented.
It was super interesting, in fact, the presentation lasted from 11:30 to after 14:00.
Obviously 2 & a half hours is not long enough, but for all that time they kept our attention.
I must say, although I had my doubts & could have done with a morning lie in, I was very glad I made the effort.
Other than the very unnecessarily late start (they could have kicked off an hour earlier) - I cannot fault the day.
BTW: 4x4AG member Alison G's famous pink Landie was the only one of the 7 to do the entire trip (Chartwell to Chartwell) & return (by ship) to SA.
The Forward Control was sold in London, the Blue Landie was given to the owners son who lives in the UK and the remaining 3 are still stuck in Djibouti.
It was a great day and it was also nice to see Ant & Peet and it was lekker catching up with MikePS & Chas...
I also finally managed to give AliG her 4x4AG mug I've been carrying around for months...

The 4WDCSA is a great, long standing club, with a proud history.
But I found two things about the Club interesting:
1. They have 140 members, but only 85 are paid up.
In the 4x4AG if you are not paid up - you are not a member.
2. Their membership fee is R2500, 10x higher than 4x4AG, but they do have stunning facilities.
