And I see the end of the ICE going down well with the multi-billion $ Formula 1 industry.............
I doubt 300,000 fans would go to a track to watch 20 EV's humming around a track. It would be like a gigantic Scalextric ...........
And how would the pit-stops be handled? A 500kg battery pack won't take 3.7 seconds to swop.........so OK, one race, one charge. That will help with battery and motor tech. Still will be as exciting as watching Ricof4e's nails dry.
Maybe we should skip the whole EV thing and go to nuclear plasma ..... oh wait, that needs highly flammable hydrogen that is EXTREMELY expensive to produce.............but the crashes will be SPECTACULAR.
ICE will remain in all 3rd world countries.
You just won't be able to buy your luxury barge in ICE.

Li , Co, Ni etc battery technologies will probly just
facilitate a smoother temporary and/or secondary basis for the transition to the development of a sustainable Hydrogen Economy.
Hydrogen Electrolysers powered by alternative energy
Sources (solar, wind , heat pump techs etc etc) will
will effect major industry transitions and for Hydrogen Gel production that will provide safe portable clean combustable fuels etc
Over time its Bye Bye Fossil Fuels …
Faster in the N Hemi , perhaps slower in the backward and expansive rural parts of the Sthn Hemi …
When one sees the major cities of Europe limiting
and constraining the free use & travel of that great
workhorse of Modern Times : The (‘old’) Defender
you should know the writings very much on the wall
for the end of Smokey Motors …

Chas, are you under the impression EV's are currently powered by Lead Acid batteries....?

... no but hybrids might have a some sort of Pb battery
in addition to say Li batteries ?
What do Elect Golf Carts use ?
( Andreas should know as he may avoid
an 18 hole Walking trail ... )
Im no battery expert but there are many types
of batteries/chem generators , storage units
... 2 unusual ones Ive seen used are Fuel Cells
and a Vanadium one developed by Highveld Steel.
... Manny, if you have any other 'questions'
maybe refer them to The Naked Scientist,
Mr Wizard or failing that Mr Wiki ...

There is NO WAY the bunny huggers will allow lead batteries on the EV's. Golf carts also have a range of what, 10-20kms between recharges?BushWacker wrote: ↑Mon Jul 11, 2022 4:25 pm... no but hybrids might have a some sort of Pb battery

Even deep cycle lead-acid batteries will NEVER be seen in an EV.

I briefly drove a prototype Prius in SA many years ago
... maybe 20+ years ago before all this Green
Revolution and climate change paranoia etc
As I recall it was difficult to tell what was driving the vehicle and when ... difficult to tell the drive mode from automatic gear changing.
The take offs were gradual and power built cumulatively
... clutched in gradually and I presumed this was
not to overcall power from the battery.
Back then I think Prius used Nickel Metal Hydride batteries.

The first Prius introduced in the 1990's had a NiMH batteries.
This was only changed in the early 2000's to the newer tech...

I saw this EV FJ a while back at a EV Convention I attended
https://evcentral.com.au/electromod-40- ... goes-wild/
Hardly going to do the overlanding trips in it, but for use around town and perhaps on the plot/farm I would really not mind this

Stop mulling and do it. A thread like that will be good for this forum.
