I'm with Mike on the Stainless here in CT. I'm up on the West Coast and see what is happening to my car in just three years. An exhaust on a diesel still has a side (outside) that is not exposed to oily diesel fumes, and it rusts. Hangers rust along with the bolts. So I can see the logic to go stainless. And a painted system needs some major prep to last the heat the cycles and not eventually start showing rust. Prep I doubt ZA craftsmen are even capable of, by the looks of it.

That is empirical proof. It really settles it. I really need to change your username to something ending with "4e"...

I will have to shoot myself then. Which would make sense if you change my name to something ending with 4e

The 1st person on this Forum to get the 4e name will be Ricof4e for his trailer rebuild Thread

It has something to do with a Fourie (4e) family residing in East London and Gauteng, I believe. There’s also wheel barrow stuff which you can read up on the other forum.

Shane, on the 'other' Forum was a family, the Fouries, they used '4e' in their Forum names.
Like most outpoken people there, some liked them and others did not.

The dad once posted a Thread about how he restored an old wheelbarrow.
He spent a few hundred Rand & called in a favour to get a few hundred Rand more of work done on it.

When the project was finished, he had a nicely restored wheelbarrow.
The total cost (his spend + the favour) was about twice as much as you could buy a new wheelbarrow for.

I pointed out the convoluted 'Cost/Benefit' thinking & was attacked for speaking sense.
It was clear to me that the the father & others who criticized my comment, lacked a modicum of business sense.

If he had merely replied "Yes, not cost justified, but I enjoyed doing it" it would have been OK.
But they insisted on attacking my unquestionably flawless argument.

I assume that guys, like Ricoffy & Ian, who were on the Forum over the past 4 years (after I was banned) have had more run-ins with them.

Hell then I certainly deserve a 4E after my forum name as I have spent WAY more on my SFA than it is worth!!!

I want to change the exhaust on the 200 to stainless.

Any suggestions what to do?
What not to do?
Which system?
Benefits?

Thanks

Speak to Petri at Viper Wheels in Somerset West. He built the exhaust in my Disco, and it’s holding up to Namibian roads rather well.

Its doesnt make sense to me.
Why replace a perfectly good exhaust now cos it MIGHT rust through in 6 years time?

If it was for some performance upgrade, or a better sound, then it makes sense, but not this.
