Jou hol.
The Ford is doing it's job. Brilliantly.
No hiccups to report.
No wait, there is one. I almost got stuck at the beach and had to engage low range to get out. It takes some torque to recover a stuck Hilux...

Nothing much to report back on, the engine has not burned a piston yet and the gearbox hasn't broken a gear yet.
I did a total of 2208km over Easter weekend at 10,2km/l. Down to Henties Bay and back was 1960km while towing a 6ft luggage trailer and with the cruise control set at 125kph. The rest was beach driving. Yesterday was however the first time I had to pay more than 1,2k to fill it up, but at N$20,36 a liter of diesel, it is still better than the gazillion Rands you poor bastards have to fork out due to corruption levies.
Not bad at all considering the rod holder and awning sitting above roof level.
As always, driving in sand is effortless and I must again stress how well that 10speed holds gear in 4x4 and how quickly it changes to the correct gear when hitting the loud peddle - you always find yourself within the torque band.
I honestly have nothing to complain about.

The Ford had its first service yesterday.
I called the day before to book it, received an confirmation sms 10 min later.
The next day I booked the vehicle in at 7am and by 11 I got an sms that it was ready to pick up.
Got it back washed and polished. The workshop manager opened the bag of old parts and went through each part with me, showed me what the old engine oil looked like and advised me to stop driving like an old lady and give it the beans once in a while. They even rotated the tyres.
Very thorough. Splendid service. Thumbs up.

Rotated the tyres? Is that Ford speak for 'went for a test drive' ?

Probably, I did notice that they clocked another 7ish km while it was with them.
But I don't mind. Ford is really trying to step up to the plate and look after their customers. Its is lightyears ahead of what I got from Nissan, and I commend them for that.
