The motoring journalists Marius Roberts has added a series called "Just to see how far it is" on his YouTube channel. It's a nice overlanding type series where he visits off the beaten track place as he travels.

Wessel, the Bakkie I bought (& got 100% of purchase price back on) was a JMC, not a GWM)
JMC - Jiangling Motor Corporation
GWM - Great Wall Motors

Well done Paul, another good find!
I watched Episode I last night:
My thoughts:
I like Marius Roberts, have seen his work for many years.
He actually, decades ago, went on a date with my girlfriends best friend.
He had hair back then.
His presentation is perfect, what he says and how he says it, the camera work, the editing etc - all top class.
I did NOT enjoy the freeloadsing:
Isuzu gave him a bakkie
Rhinocab gifted him a Canopy
Snomaster gifted a fridge
Intervolt the dual battery system
FrontRunner (Your 'No Warranty' Company) gifted the RTT
Etc...
These companies do F-All for us, the loyal customer, but they gift guys like Marius & Roam etc. who don't spend squat with them, big freebies...
Pi$$es me off.
Finally, he goes through all the suggested names for his Travel Series, all good, then he picks this long-winded rambling name.
Which was a name HE came up with, I think one of the suggested names would have been better... Any one of them...
The logo is kak - it's very busy & over-detailed logo. A simpler logo would have been better.
On Branding (Name & Logo) I'll give Roam Overlanding the edge...
I'll watch Episode 2 tonight, now that the freeloading is over, I may enjoy it more than episode I
I see there are about 12 episodes...

On the freeloading front I am not so bothered with it.
The world of tv shows and the method of production has fundamentally changed with the advent of YouTube and COVID blamed draconian lockdowns.
This is Marius’s day job, he needs it to have an ROI, so asking for sponsorship is part and parcel of a successful business case. If the manufacturers are willing to provide sponsorship in exchange for a bit of advertising, so what?
At the end of the day he is providing decent content that is enjoyed by okes and gals like us so good luck to him and well done for making the effort.

At least he's upfront about the sponsored stuff he's using. You can see he's been in front of the camera for a while with the way he presents the program. When he gets on the road it's a lot more interesting.
What I liked was that he's completely new to anything 4x4 or overlanding and he gets to enjoy what we like doing.
