Sani flex now on coils in the front. Still a bit to go, if I can just find a spot to flex him out all the way.

Flex is old schoolFit double lockers and flex goes out the back door...
Joking. But my view around 4x4's have changed a lot the last few years.
If I have to build a 4x4 now lots of things will change.
Have crawled out a Dune this past week near Kleinzee which few 4x4's could make at full power thanks to double lockers.
In situations like this fflex is useless...

That's impressive David.
For most of us, a lift of 25mm to 75mm is more than enough added flex.*
* Except Jeeps that need over 100mm of added flex to be Off-Road Rated...

Flex is just something that came with the Patrol coil setup up front, and will just get better when I get to the coils at the back. My leafs are taking a beating in this sand. I can see how the rear end is suddenly sagging, and the leafs are looking bad. I can only think it has something to do with the amount of power it takes to get through this sand, and the heavy towing that I do in LR in this sand. And very little is towing a load on the ball, but rather dragging vehicles out that get stuck.grips wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 4:26 pmFlex is old schoolFit double lockers and flex goes out the back door...

My test I did with the crawling in the sand did show me how well the 40 year old LSD is still performing, which I am super impressed with. Not once did it even look like it lost torque to one of the wheels.

With tyre pressures in the region of 0.6 to 0.8 you reduce forces on drive train as you are driving on top of the sand.
Maybe it is a good idea to invest in a compressor.
The day will come that you will find yourself in a situation where crawling will not get you out and your only solution will be to deflate.
I bet if I dug in a Cruiser in soft sand you will not move me with 1.8 tyres.
Used my winch to recover a Corolla last Saturday on my way to the West Coast. The Cruiser just dug in with both lockers locked.
But we are going off topic.

had ( a quick ) release of its roll bar ...

Goose Neck test

I will drive it up something over the weekend. The suspension was changed quite a bit after this pic was taken
