Many manufacturers are using the CVT gearbox now. Probably a huge amount cheaper than a 10 speed auto to manufacture and you right they probably vastly improved since the first ones appeared I think a DAF?

My A4 was CVT which was pretty advanced & worked fantastically well over the original Audi CVTs. But the oil change was R6k & a replacement box was R90k [emoji102].

It’s true that many manufacturers are using CVT boxes, even in the same SUV segments.

For example, these all offer CVT:

RAV4
Xtrail
Koleos

Then:
Forester
Outlander
That Jeep thing

I test drive a used Outlander today. Great car.

Initially I found the CVT to be extremely agricultural & not nice at all to drive under hard acceleration. But then I noticed that when the eco mode was switched off it was a different car & very acceptable.

The one I drive was a bit tatty. But the things are scarcer than a Vaalie with correct tyre pressures.

Which model/year? Price?
Great interior features on the current model. Really almost better than my Paj!
Would convince wifey to part with the BM for one of them

Personally, I'd go Duster...

You would because you drive a Fortuner. The Outlander is in another class to the Duster but you’re a Porra who grew up poor so you don’t know what quality is about.

Then again, who knows how long Mitsubishi will remain in SA [emoji2371]
Flex is overrated

It was a 2014 with 88kkm for R230k. But there’s a better one in PTA for R290k.
