It amazes me how little comment we had on this event, never before has this club ever attempt something such wild as Baboons Pass, a week ago, a group of seven of us left home on a super conquest. A week later we can look back at it, with some regret , its all over.
Yet the club and its members had very little comment to this event.
This group of people truly shows what this club stands for , we appreciate life, the risk that comes with it, the true spirit.
We went, we concurred!
The people that committed, the people that went with me, you are everything that 4x4 Action Group stands for. People with spirit and true guts. Well done!!!!

Look Martin I think the trip must have been epic!
I can only hope that the club arranges another one and that I've done sufficient trails to be "ready" for the next one!
Had I found this forum sooner I would most certainly have joined the trip - even if I would have had to "wing" it....
The club seems to be active. On forum at least.
And while I'm just as guilty of talking shite on other forums - all I'm really looking for is the opportunity to do trails/events with like minded people. If I make friends - Great! If I don't, at least I got to 4x4! I am easily satisfied!
Your weekend is the perfect example of what many (most?) are here for.
I read your trip report . It was good.
How about telling us what you did right.
What you did wrong.
What you would do differently next time?
Basic impressions, insights, what you learned.
Which vehicle you think did best and why? (no brand bashing, just an honest opinion)
What you liked about your vehicle and what not.
That way, those who weren't able to attend can experience it through your words.

Shane, in reply, what I did right, commit to this trip, and the arrangement of it. I chose the best team. What I did wrong, the vehicle needs more ground clearance, sagged over the last year, my vehicle was overloaded, prepared for the worst. Few times I chose the wrong line. Regrets? Nothing.

Boet, this was epic and to crown it all, you did it in one day and didnt damage any vehicles in the process. You guys can be very proud of yourselves. The footage on YT gives us a taste of what you guys did but it is no substitute for the actual experience. I am sure, myself included, that the lack of commentary on your adventure, is down to jealousy and for not doing it ourselves.
Well done to all, it looks like it was an epic trip well planned and executed.

I'll most certainly admit to being more than a little jealous!Estee wrote:Boet, this was epic and to crown it all, you did it in one day and didnt damage any vehicles in the process. The Great & Glorious Most Extreme Mad Manny will, tomorrow, at the Committee meeting, discuss the setting up of a meeting, probably in October, open to all members, to hammer out the 2020 Calendar.

Well, should there be another trip next year I might even believe the "Great & Glorious Most Extreme" part of your title ....Mad Manny wrote:The Great & Glorious Most Extreme Mad Manny will, tomorrow, at the Committee meeting, discuss the setting up of a meeting, probably in October, open to all members, to hammer out the 2020 Calendar.
Of course to live up to the "Most Extreme" part you would need to attend yourself....

One thing after the event was the Court session
The Judge gave out penalties and each member could also address the Court and give out penalties and it actually was a fun part blowing of steam after the trip
I would take more Obs next time for the Court session after the event
Things I'll try not to do is hit the Speedhump outside Heilbron at 60Km/h
I really do not have something to regret
As Tiny was a Tarzan Tiny and unstoppable
My navi did not have to get out to navi and we powered through everything
Some might say that is boring
No
Not at all
As we had more time to enjoy Nature while waiting for fellow members
Things to make the trip easier
At least rear diff lock
Good ground clearance
Do not over pack and keep the Vehicle as light as possible but do not take for granted that you are sleeping at the lodge the night
So be Prepared to spend s night on the Pass if nessesary and even longer if a vehicle is out of comission
