Are you planning on fitting any type of fenders or mudguards over the wheels?
Cycle type mudguards over the front wheels that are attached to the hub in some way will prevent you eating lots of stones and mud.

Not at this stage Paul.

It will be fitted with a fire wall at the back of the tank and side panels - so apart form the door openings, the whole cabin will be enclosed.

My Oom had one down in East London many years ago. It had 80kg of lead under the fuel tank to try keep some weight on the front wheel. Even then the gear lever position showed a skull and crossbones instead of first gear. It was fun running it down the road with the front wheel in the air and the skidplate at the back showering sparkes. Cornering with any amount of throttle wasn't an option. All in it was a fun toy but with very limited use.

Tried some new welding rods yesterday, much better consistency than the afrox brand. But its was quite expensive.
