Installing Solar on my Jurgens Explorer

#1

Post by Crips »

So i have taken the plunge

The solar panel and charge controller has been ordered and paid, along with 10meter of cable so can put the panel where ever the sun is.
This will be very basic (I think)

Ordered everything from https://www.sustainable.co.za
They are very helpfull and I gave them a call and had a long chat with a technical guy sharing ideas and plans, really awesome service so far.

Everything on the Explorer is allready on 12v, I changed the old 12v lights to small LED strips some time ago and the fridge is permantly 12V.
So the Panel and charge controller is just going to charge the x1 105Ah battery which will run the fridge, few led's and a 12v water pump for the shower\basin.

I order the Epsolar Landstar 2024E 20A 12V/24V PWM Charge Controller, it's not a MPPT but I think it will do the job just fine with a 120w Enersol Panel.

Eventually I want to expand by adding a additional battery and panel, hence the 20A controller.

I'll post pic's when I receive it and install, will be testing it at the Blouberg GTG so cutting it a bit close :D

Awesome, glad I'm not the only one upgrading my off-grid style for the upcoming camp

I'm going to come investigate your setup...
